Do you have any life philosophy?
Optimism, joy of life, respect for life as such, not only material but complex, including the idealistic superstructure that distinguishes us from other living creatures.
In an earlier interview you said that you come from a family of engineers and that construction was an obvious choice for you. What does construction actually mean to you?
It may sound like a cliché, but I really like building. I majored in water engineering and throughout my life, as my kids can attest, when we drive by a dam, weir or other water feature, I stop and we go check it out. When in a town, I look in the excavation and want to know what fittings or pipes are currently being used by the waterworks. Of course, I’m also interested in ground structures, especially logistics and production halls, which we affectionately call “cans” (smile)

You started your construction business as a roofing and facade contractor...
Yes, that is true. We have grown gradually over the long term and today we are one of the most popular and respected general contractors of large construction projects. We are worth tens to hundreds of millions of CZK and we implement development projects under the ANTRACIT brand within our holding structure.
This year you have also expanded the board of directors in your company. What led you to do this?
In recent years, in connection with the positive development of the company and the increase in turnover and fulfilment of other objectives, we have been implementing a strategic development plan to strengthen the position of our company in the construction market.
In the next year, we expect to complete this strategic plan by further adjusting our organisational structure to better reflect the growth in sales and the expanding activities of our affiliated and subsidiary companies.
ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR: Jan Hasík, founder, chairman of the board and director of HSF System, holds the title of EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 of the MS Region.
What other projects do you plan to focus on?
We will be expanding our development company ANTRACIT PROPERTY, which focuses on logistics, manufacturing, retail, office and residential projects in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
We would also like to acquire our own capacities for the production and assembly of some of the building parts, therefore we are currently looking for anotheracquisitions.
BUILDING OF THE YEAR: The prestigious award went to HSF System for the construction of a community centre and prayer room in Sedlčany in the Central Bohemia Region. Its other awards include, for example, first prizes in the competitions Building of the Moravian-Silesian Region, Building of the Year of the Central Bohemian Region and Building of the South Moravian Region.
Where do you see your company in another twenty years?
It’s not just a vision, as I regularly consult and create it over a long period of time, both with my colleagues on the board and with each of my colleagues when they come up with something new and thought-provoking.
We want our company to continue to function in the future as a completely professional organisation. We want to function with a maximum and well-adjusted internal, production, business and personnel process without dependence on me or others, and to be able to function, as I say with exaggeration, for at least 300 years, which is a short time in geological terms. (laughs) If we look around the world, where capitalism has been in place for hundreds of years, we can see many companies that have been successful for several centuries.I believe that HSF System will be a successful and growing company to the delight of our customers, suppliers, partners and of course, our employees and shareholders, not for another twenty years, but at least for twenty times as long. (smile)
