Metrostav ustupuje, Eurovia nastupuje

Metrostav Steps Back, Eurovia Takes the Lead

Last year, the construction industry increased its return on sales to 5.8% – only car manufacturers and the electrical engineering sector saw profits grow faster. The sector is driven primarily by developer CTP Invest. Among the 100 largest companies, with revenues of more than CZK 800 million and employing 37,000 people, Czech owners dominate, accounting for around 55% of revenues.

There was a change at the top of the rankings, with Eurovia overtaking Metrostav, whose revenues fell by a fifth after it was handed a three–year ban on participating in public procurement tenders. Railway infrastructure specialists AŽD Praha and Elektrizace železnic Praha (Daniel Křetínský), together with Metrostav, make the largest contributions to the sector’s total profit. The improved results of building contractors IMOS Brno, HSF System and Sweden’s Skanska were also supported by additional financial income.
