‘Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what
you‘re gonna get’, Forrest Gump said. I am lucky to
have had enough opportunities to taste some excellent
‘candies’ at the personal and professional levels of my
life. These have included meeting many great people.
The greatest happiness in my life is the opportunity to
be the father of two great boys and, more recently,
tiny daughters. In the fi eld of my work, I have had
the opportunity to experience what it is like to be
the programme head of a radio station and what it
means to lead Dolní Vítkovice, which was a wonderful
and unique experience for more than ten years of
my life. And right now, as the head of the Moravian-
Silesian Tourism Regional Headquarters, I am enjoying
the inspiration, opportunities and challenges that
the Moravian-Silesian Region is full of in the fi eld of
tourism. My membership on the editorial board of
the POSITIV Business & Style. magazine goes hand in
hand with this.
The topic of this issue is Industry, so it is impossible
not to mention one of the very successful projects of
the regional destination company Technotrasa. I am
convinced that the monuments on this ‚trail‘ focused
on industrial heritage are among the best that our
region has to offer. In addition, it makes me very happy
to see the connection of the regional product with
Dolní Vítkovice, which is—of course—my heart‘s desire.
My original profession was a builder. Technology
and architecture are therefore very close to me.
Professional meetings with people such as Mr. Světlík,
Jirka Michálek, the architect Josef Pleskot, Milan Šraml
and others were very benefi cial for me in this regard.
I appreciate that I can choose from a range of tourist
opportunities that our region generously offers not
only as a visitor and fan of this region, but that together
with colleagues from Moravian-Silesian Tourism I can
also participate in the development and visibility
of local tourism. I want to build on the successes
of the agency, my colleagues and make full use of
the synergies with and cooperation of individual
destinations, attractions or event organizers not only
within the region.
The fact that the Moravian-Silesian Region is an
attractive place for tourists—and thus also for investors
and entrepreneurs operating not just in the fi eld of
tourism—has been proven in recent years by the ever-
increasing number of visitors. We are doing everything
we can to get the number of visitors to the region—
which is attractive for holidays and makes a good
fi lm and conference destination—growing again. And
I fi rmly believe that this magazine, which is—like the
Moravian-Silesian Region—positive and stylish, will have
its share in this.
