Recruitment on Social Networks

Social networks are a phenomenon today. Between the ages of 13-54 you can find very few

people who don‘t have their profile on at least one of them. Facebook still dominates with the

number of users, but other media are coming to the fore. For example, Linkedin as a network of

professionals has almost two million Czech profiles. At the same time, a fight for new employees

is taking place on the job market which significantly changes the distribution of forces on the job

market. Employers are not able to choose from among all the candidates anymore. The candidates

themselves choose which company has the right values to join their life to.

This (new) situation also changes the role

of traditional job portals. These are visited

only by people who are actively looking for

a job. But there are also people who are not

actively looking for work, but they would

change their job in case they get an offer.

And there is probably no better platform for

these cases than social networks.

website, but also the contacts for the people

who were interested‘, adds Jiří Kratochvíl from

the same agency. ‘Speaking in terms of hard

data, I can say that we provide clients with real

contacts, while one contact in the campaign

costs between twenty and fifty crowns’.

the employee‘s personality. How do they

behave? What are their preferences,

education, work and free time interests?

That is the alpha and omega. And then, of

course, there is the interesting and engaging

creative side that attracts their attention.

On social networks, you can get as close

to the potential candidates as possible. You

approach them in their homes, on vacations

or in cafés. These people might not be

actively looking for a job, but your offer

reaches out to them practically everywhere,

thanks to unique targeting programme.

Targeting on Linkedin is then much more

professionally focused and the platform as

such is more suitable for higher positions. If

you are looking for a new financial director,

you have clearly defined that he/she needs

to come from the field of information

technologies, have at least five years of

experience and holds specific licenses and

certifications, Linkedin offers such targeting.

Each of the mentioned social networks

targets a different audience, which thus

makes it possible to focus on specific groups

‘Apart from classic advertising campaigns

that reach out to a wide audience where the

output can be in the hundreds of contacts,

recruiting people via Linkedin has proven its

value thanks to the classic job advert. It is free

and, apart from your own contact network, it

spreads among the people who are looking

for a job on Linkedin,‘ Kratochvíl claims.

Finally we have several words of advice for

you. If your company wants to become

a magnet for new employees, it has to be

open. People today want to get to know

their new employer in advance. It is not only

about starting an advertising campaign and

the agency providing you with leads. It is

also about continuous work being put into

creating the company brand, the brand of

a good employer. It is about company culture.

‘Recently, companies, mostly production

companies, have been coming to us with

an inquiry for campaigns targeted at new

employees’, says Souad Kratochvílová Kafi

from DIGITAAL communication agency in

Ostrava. ‘For HR purposes, we have invented

special techniques targeting marketing

campaigns on Facebook, Instagram and

Linkedin. We don‘t provide the client simply

with the number of clicks through to a career

in the process’. As Adam from DIGITAAL

says, ‘If you are looking for people for

production, it is best to reach out to them

on Facebook or Instagram. But if you are

looking for a professional for financial

management in a company, there is no

better platform than Linkedin’.

For the recruiting campaign to function

well, it is necessary to be able to determine

The authentic shots from your company

and the experience of your current

colleagues work really well in the advertising

campaigns. Do without clichés and corny

recruiting phrases. Often the advert that is

written with a human voice, exactly as it is

in your company, works the best. And the

advertising campaign only supports the

success of the whole recruiting campaign.
