INVESTORS IN MSK
je MSK vystaven. Organizační strukturou a personálním
projekt LIFE-IP COALA, LIFE IP for Coal Mining Landscape Adaptation, kterého je MEC součástí.
čistší, zelenější a ekonomicky úspornější.

The Energy Crisis
Is Undoubtedly One of the Most
Widely Debated Topics
The energy crisis is undoubtedly one of the most widely
debated topics, with energy conservation, efficiency
optimization, and related measures increasingly gaining
in significance. Energy prices appear to be coming down
gradually, however, this is not a time to get complacent.
It is still important to save energy, and open up space for
renewable sources. Furthermore, the Moravian-Silesian
region has begun its transfer away from coal and in favor
of a carbon neutral economy that follows the climate and
energetics goals set by the EU. Our region’s energetics is
still largely based on coal and our energy consumption is
around 41% higher than our production. We also cannot
forget the heating industry, where coal also remains as
the most represented fuel source. Our region has a
large web of central heating supplies, that serve around
700 thousand people in 250 thousand homes, which
is the equivalent of around ⅔ of the Moravian-Silesian
region’s population. At the same time, energy in the form
of heat is also an important part of industrial production.
The main goal of energetics in the MS region is to reduce
reliance on coal, thereby decreasing the region’s
carbon footprint, and to modernize not only energy
sources but infrastructure as well. The regional
government is taking an active role in supporting
sustainable energy sources and the establishment of
community energetics. The region’s new approach
towards low emission hydrogen technologies and
nuclear technologies is part of this progress forward.
These technologies require well rounded conceptual
solutions that make use of the entirety of the region’s
potential, and to maintain the availability, quality and
affordability of energy supplies in both the public and
private sectors. The MS region’s strong theoretical
foundation in science and research are bound to be of
great help in this endeavor.
The Moravian-Silesian Energetics Center helps the region
develop solutions to any challenges it is faced within
the field of energetics. Our organizational structure and
personnel deployment allows us to cover a spectrum of
activities, ranging from strategic and professional topics
in energetics, to preparing and realizing projects. Of
course our position does not allow us to directly prevent
rising energy prices, however, through our actions we try
to decrease the energetic load of over 1200 regionally
owned structures, which will help reduce energy
purchase costs. The MEC is also part of the LIFE-IP for
Coal Mining Landscape Adaptation (LIFE-IP COALA),
which aims to help transform the region. Another
important project is the Public Energetics Center - one
of thirteen strategic projects that are competing for
funding from the “Spravedlivá Transformace” (just
transformation) program.
Consultation and education regarding the state of
energetics are important parts of the transformation
process that will eventually help our region’s energetics
reach a cleaner, greener and more economical state.
