The Goal Is to Attract Tourists
An interesting gift awaits those who are heading to Ostrava. The so-called OSTRAVACARD!!! was created at the turn of the spring and summer of 2020 as a quick response to the COVID crisis to support domestic tourism and motivate a longer stay in the city. With the card, tourists will receive a number of benefits from project partners during their stay in Ostrava, such as discounts to selected expositions in Dolní Vítkovice, Landek Park, the Zoo, DinoPark, the Ostrava Art Gallery, as well as some restaurants and cafés. Mgr. Jiří Šimon, Director of Ostrava City Information Centres and Destination Management, told us more about this card.
Could you briefly describe what OSTRAVACARD!!! is for, how it works and by whom the project is financed?
The card gives its holders a guide on how to enjoy their stay in Ostrava while at the same time it may be interesting for project partners to reach new clientele from outside Ostrava. The only way to get the card is to stay for at least two nights in one of the partner hotels. The project itself and its related marketing campaign is financed by the Statutory City of Ostrava.
How many partners are currently involved in the project?
The card is currently provided by thirty-two accommodation facilities in Ostrava and OSTRAVACARD!!! holders can take advantage of various benefits at thirty-six locations in the city and its surroundings.
How can new potential partners get involved in the project and what does such involvement entail?
It is simple: e-mail info@ostravainfo.cz and offer cardholders an attractive benefit. Participation in the programme is free of charge for both accommodation providers and benefit providers, but we expect their help in joint promotion of the project.
Is there a limit to the number of project partners?
It is not limited, but of course the quality of the services provided by potential partners is our priority, along with the practical utility of the card for tourists and visitors of the city.
Can you tell us which offers are the most popular among visitors?
As expected, visitors to the city most often use the card when buying tickets to the Zoo and Dolní Vítkovice, but we were also pleased with the figures from the Dinopark, all of which shows that the card is used by families with children, which is a very important target group for us and we hope that its value among the guests will continue to grow.
Thank you very much for the interview, Mr Šimon.
