This Is the Havířov Hospital’s New Vision

The hospital in Havířov has been blossoming in the last few years under the leadership

of Norbert Schellong. It has also begun rivaling and even surpassing hospitals not only

regionally, but also country wide, in the quality of care, approach to, for example, pediatric

patients, equipment and openness to innovation. We spoke to Mr. Schellong himself about

how he managed to turn the region’s most unprofitable hospital into a cutting edge medical

facility and what the Havířov hospital has in store for the future.

You have been at the head of the Havířov hospital

for four years now, how would you evaluate your

time spent in this position?

I joined the hospital in 2019, back when the hospital

was the Moravian-Silesian region’s least profitable

hospital, with a cumulative debt of a quarter of

a million CZK. I presented the selection committee

with my vision for development, and we have been
