INVESTORS IN MSK
Ing. Jiří Veverka
ředitel Nemocnice Třinec
CEO Nemocnice Třinec
with each other. Even though we were hit
with the second wave of covid right after, we
still managed to restart progress on our long
term projects and investments covered by
European or regional funding.
What is the next step for the hospital?
What is your investment plan?
We are launching the reconstruction
of the hospital wing that houses our
Rehabilitation Ward and Blood Center.
This project will update the interior as
well as expand the services those wards
provide.
value the patriotism
“ I greatly
of locals. People here
are happy to help.
”
After the reconstruction of the Rehabilitation
Ward we plan to do something similar with
our Department of Gastroenterology,
which currently operates under subpar
circumstances. By fall, we will open up our
subsidy request for the construction of
an ER Department, and if we get approved,
our goal is to begin construction as soon as
possible.
We have many smaller projects, as well as
larger visions, regarding the solution to a lack
of space and staff. Fitting these solutions into
a budget and timeframe is the subject of
the strategic plan we are currently developing
for the hospital. This plan should guide us all
the way through 2035.
What makes your job easier?
Maintaining good communication and
cooperation with the city government,
Třinec Steelworks, city police, the firemen,
etc. is very important for us. We are
the second largest local employer, as we
currently employ 1300 people.
I greatly value the patriotism of locals.
People here are happy to help and
cooperate when even off the clock. Which
is why we try to reward and motivate them
through benefit and support programs.
We also have the ability to negotiate with
unions, which includes salaries. Many
people appreciate the stability of a hospital
job. Even though we are currently going
through economically challenging times,
we are able to devise solutions that result in
our patients – for whom we do this job to
begin with – not experiencing a decrease
in the quality of care they receive.
there. I am excited to see them every
morning. Simply said, I am very satisfied
with where I am.
Mr. Veverka, thank you for the interview.
Can you tell us what makes your hospital
special?
Well, something I can lighten up the mood
a bit with is that we have many art pieces
on our premises. Artists create statues in
our hospital park and then give them to
us. We even made it to the Guiness book
of work records.
Your job must be very challenging, do
you have time to relax?
Definitely, mainly through biking and
tourism. Nonetheless, nothing fills me with
energy better than my job and the people
