Janáček Philharmonic Invites You

to Crossover Shows in Gong

In 2019/2020, the 66th season of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava (JFO) and the Multifunctional

Hall Gong will introduce a range of crossover concerts which the Philharmonic started a few years

ago. The series of successful shows, called Cycle G, which connect classical music played by a large

symphonic orchestra with other genres across the musical spectrum, annually attracts countless

audiences along with the fans of the famous bands and singers who have participated with the

Janáček Philharmonic over the past six years.

JFO have performed with artists, singers, and bands such

as Olympic (with Petr Janda), Lucie Bílá, Iva Bittová,

Michal Hrůza and his band, Ewa Farná, Martin Chodúr,

and Vojtěch Dyk. Fans of film themes love remembering

past concerts with Ondřej Gregor Brzobohatý

and Ondřej Brousek, and there is always the Christmas

atmosphere of the traditional concerts with Jura

Pavlica and Hradišťan. Last year, Tomáš Klus delivered

a breathtaking performance which was rewarded with

a standing ovation, and Jarek Nohavica sold out the large

hall three times over a short period of time.

Every performance of the JFO can be distilled into

a single description: a sold out concert hall in the

unique atmosphere of the Lower Area Vítkovice;

interweaving musical genres into one unexpected sound;

an enthusiastic audience from Czechia, Slovakia, and

Poland, eager for the performance, the chill atmosphere

and ready to respond with a standing ovation. This is

a typical night with the JFO in Gong, and this is how the

JFO introduces the symbiosis of a classical philharmonic

orchestra and pop-rock hits to a wide range of listeners.

In the coming season, you too may enjoy classical music

with the JFO in Gong or in the concert hall of the Ostrava

House of Culture (Dům kultury města Ostravy). These

cycles are so popular that we offer season passes for

businesses to give to their employees.

In the upcoming season, we are introducing another

four interesting projects. After their successful debut in

February 2018, where they performed sixteen songs with

new symphonic arrangements, the charismatic singer

Tomáš Klus with his band Cílová skupina are returning

on Nov. 26, 2019. “I am very lucky to collaborate

with musicians who respect the songs. This is a great

opportunity for me to become even more connected

to my music: all the songs feel so different that it almost

shocks me. They have shifted to another dimension. I am

very happy that Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra offered

me this opportunity,” said Tomáš Klus.

Another return involves Ondřej G. Brzobohatý. In October

2015, he starred next to Ondřej Brousek and the JFO with

the show entitled “Melodies of Silver Screen”. On March

10, 2020 he will present his own music in Gong.

Another two projects will be premiere visits: the fascinating

singer, drummer, writer of numerous hits, and frontman of

the band Lucie, David Koller. The unquestionable star of

Czech show business will play on June 11, 2020. And last

but not least will be the opening of the 2019/2020 cycle

of the Gong Season: the singer, guitarist, and songwriter

Janek Ledecký starts his acoustic tour in spring 2019, and

will deliver his show in conjunction with the symphonic

orchestra in Gong on Sept. 18, 2019.
