Jan Krkoška
“The Beskid Is a Beautiful and Sought
for Attraction of Our Region,”
says Jan Krkoška, Deputy Governor of Moravian-Silesian Region. Projects of the local government
make our region even more attractive.
Mr Jan Krkoška has worked in spa care,
pharmaceuticals, and tourism for all his
professional career. He is the chairman of
the Euroregion Praděd Tourism Board (Rada
pro cestovní ruch Euroregionu Praděd), and
he also makes the best use of his experience
as the Deputy Governor of the MoravianSilesian Region for Regional Development
and Tourism.
The Beskid Mountains is a destination of
visitors from our region and neighbouring
areas too. Pustevny is extremely popular,
with the reconstructed Libušín only to open
in the end of the year. What attractions
may a tourist expect in this year?
The Beskid Mountains is a beautiful,
attractive, prominent area of our region with

a great share of our region’s tourist catalogue
as well as in the increasing number of annual
visitors to the Moravian-Silesian Region.
We have recorded an annual increase
of visitors by 10%, and we do our best to
improve the infrastructure accordingly. We
have implemented measures to protect the
environment without a negative impact on
those dependent on tourism.
The area of Pustevny represents a perfect
example: in close cooperation with the
Government of the Zlín Region, the resort
is being renewed to make efficient use
of the facilities and area, similar to Lysá
Hora, with great numbers of visitors. As
Governor Deputy for Tourism, I am happier
solving issues related to a very high number
of visitors rather than the converse, not
knowing how to address more tourists. It
is quite the opposite: we keep introducing
projects, making our region more and more
attractive.
In 2019 a visitor to the Beskid Mountains
may expect an extended network of electric
bike rentals. Electric bikes will be available
in Mosty u Jablunkova, Hrčava, Ostravice at
the Freud Hotel, and Vendryně.
The Beskid Mountains have also become
the destination of caravanners who
demand a good quality infrastructure.
The i mportance of bikeways and charging
stations for electric bikes is increasing
too. What do you recommend to tourists
involved in these activities?
