STYLE Summer Festivals in Dolní Vítkovice For quite a few years now, festivals have been an indivisible part of summer at the Lower Area Vítkovice, and the attractive industrial locations have annually invited more and more visitors. Fans of music, arts and fun attend prestigious and famous festivals as well as sporting, family, and culinary events. Colours of Ostrava and Beats for Love are the flagship festivals: they have a long tradition, and every year they introduce more interesting artists and greater programme. The Lower Area Vítkovice is not only a passive provider of space but during these events it also opens its doors to all visitors: Bolt Tower is typically a main attraction, followed by the Science and Technological Centre (Svět techniky) and the Milan Dobeš Museum in the Multifunctional Hall Gong. The Camp in Landek Park houses nearly 2,500 visitors during festivals. “When the festivals are over and we take charge of the premises again, we feel relieved. On the other hand, that is when we start preparing for another year of festivals. We are happy that long-term collaboration has brought excellent relationships with organizers, and that the skyline of Lower Area Vítkovice is so closely connected with the image of the festival,” Petr Koudela says.
