Lenka, I heard that Láskočas was
founded at the time of your own
wedding in 2015. Did you enjoy planning
your own wedding to the point where
you decided to turn it into a livelihood?
It is exactly as you say. I call Láskočas my
second child. My husband was a wedding
photographer even back then, and so I was
quite familiar with wedding organisation.
At the time, I was on maternity leave with
my first-born son, and so I just decided
to go for it, without too many long term
intentions. Before going on maternity
leave I had a position in the HR department
at a bank, which is a completely different
field. The service I offered was something
quite novel at the time, and demand was
so large that I ended up never returning to
my corporate job.
You definitely saw your fair
share of special requests from
the brides and grooms, whether it
comes to atypical locations, themes or
costumes. What is your favorite, or most
memorable experience in this regard?
I personally do not consider any of these
types of requests weird. I am very excited
when clients want to make their weddings
unique and personal. It is a nice change
of pace.
I think that one of the most memorable
requests was a wedding held on a ski
slope with 180 people. The wedding party
arrived at the ceremony on skis, and all
of us then took a train to Germany for
the banquet. The slope where the wedding
was held was the one where the couple
had first met, which added a perfect
personal touch to the significance
of the event.
Currently I am searching for the perfect
place for a couple that wants to hold their
wedding in the theme of the Great Gatsby,
so we are trying to find a venue in an art-
deco or First Republic style.
What was your favorite wedding trend in
2023? What do you think will be popular
in 2024?
Oh man, trends. In some respects, I like
them, and in others, I do not. They usually
come in waves, so I don’t believe them
to be limited to specific years. Whatever
is popular abroad only reaches us around
5 years later.
Simple, imperfect flash photography,
90s style cakes and bows are currently
quite popular. Also people are increasingly
trending towards holding smaller, more
private ceremonies.
Dresses are generally getting shorter,
veils are making a comeback, and people
are moving away from nature back to
more elegant locations. Weddings held
at castles and chateaus are starting to take
over from barns and meadows.
Following the turn towards elegance,
bouquets are now becoming more airy and
feature more flowers over supplementary
greenery. The ever-present eucalyptus
is also on the retreat.
Over the past couple of years, dried pampas
grass was a huge trend, representing some
sort of bohemian style. We are bound to
still see this type of decoration for the next
Ski Slopes, Forests, Fairy Tale
Castles, or Even Your Own Home.
