actively observing their competitors as well.
It can inspire, or outrun the competition
through development.
This is exactly what our graduates will
be capable of: creating a complex
conception involving regulatory strategies
and the introduction of a product into
the market, while taking materials and
technologies into account. They will be
able to save manufacturers time and money
by correctly optimizing processes and
knowing how to efficiently communicate
with notified bodies. In this way, they will
become the necessary link between all
three sides, each of which currently has
a different vision of the design, development
and production processes.
The more of these experts we have in
the medical device market, the faster
the conformity assessment and product
introduction processes will become.
Products will therefore be better, of
a higher quality and will be brought into
the market faster.
What is your vision for the program in
terms of future development, and what is
your plan for the expansion of cooperation
between the industrial and commercial
sectors in the upcoming years?
After finishing the bachelor study program,
graduates have the opportunity to continue
their studies in the fields of Biomedicine
Engineering or Biomechanics. Currently,
the Hradec Králové University is also
in the process of gaining accreditation
for the master’s study program titled
Certification of Medical Devices.
The concept behind this study program is
similar to ours, including an internship at
a company, however, it is more focused on
legislature and regulation.
Right now, we have 3 years to create our
own master’s program. Our plan for this
program is to combine the contributions of
all the individual departments involved in
the processes of production, innovation and
design of medical devices. One department
may have perfected its syllabus regarding
additive manufacturing, while another
may have done the same but for chemical
analysis or materials testing. All of this can
be perfectly merged with legislature and
a deeper understanding of regulatory
requirements, to, once again, create a study
program that is unique in Czechia.
Mr. Peter, thank you for the interview.
