like human medicine, is studied for six
years. Absolvents of veterinary medicine
earn a degree like physicians but are not
capable of independent work. Though
you do not have to earn a medical
certificate, specialisation is not as varied
as it is in human medicine. That is mainly
why I have recently decided to end my
veterinary medicine studies and prepare
for entrance exams for medical school.
Is there a possibility of switching majors
then? Either in the Czech Republic
or abroad?
I have considered studying abroad for
a long time, either in Austria or Germany.
I do not want to say that I have chosen
an easier path by studying in the Czech
Republic, but I feel like medicine is already
a demanding field and studying in a foreign
language would be quite challenging.
Nevertheless, I am still interested in
studying abroad. I sincerely hope that
surgery, which I would like to pursue, is
not as masculinised abroad as it is here in
the Czech Republic. I want to finish my
studies in the Czech Republic but would
like to intern and maybe later on even work
in Germany. I believe that this would offer
me new opportunities that I would not
have encountered in the Czech Republic.
