Ostrava se opájí
Národní divadlo moravskoslezské pracova-
lo na projektu Smetanovského operního
cyklu Ostrava 2024 od roku 2014 – ini-
ciátorem je ředitel NDM a operní režisér
Jiří Nekvasil. Rozhodl se uvést všechna
dokončená operní díla skladatele ke 200.
výročí jeho narození a 140. výročí úmrtí.
Sedm oper nastudoval soubor jako insce-
nace, slavnostní Libuše je výjimkou – zde
spojilo divadlo síly s Janáčkovou filhar-
monií Ostrava, přizvalo dirigenta Roberta
Jindru, sólisty pražského Národního divadla a
Pražský filharmonický sbor a operu divákům
nabízí v koncertní podobě. Březnový blok
cyklu rezonoval ve veřejném prostoru pozi-
tivně, pochvalné divácké ohlasy i recenze
sbírá divadlo z Česka i ze zahraničí. V pro-
deji jsou ještě poslední vstupenky na některá
květnová představení. Na čtyři z nich vypra-
vuje NDM speciální vlaky z Prahy přes Olo-
mouc a zpět - po večerních představeních
totiž už z Ostravy směr Praha nic nejede.
Divadlo vydalo k cyklu kompletní původ-
ní libreta Smetanových oper s anglickým
překladem; knihu lze koupit i v e-shopu
divadla. Stejně tak útlou publikaci, v níž se
Leoš Janáček vyznal z obdivu ke Smeta-
novu dílu.

The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre
has been working on the project of the
Smetana Opera Cycle Ostrava 2024
since 2014 - the initiator is the head of
the National Theatre and Opera Director
Jiří Nekvasil. He has decided to present
all of the composer's completed operas
on the 200
th
Anniversary of his birth
and the 140
th
Anniversary of his death.
The company staged seven operas as
productions, but the festive Libuše is
an exception. Here the theatre joined
forces with the Janáček Philharmonic
Ostrava, invited conductor Robert Jindra,
soloists of the Prague National Theatre and
the Prague Philharmonic Choir and offered
the opera to the audience in concert form.
The March block of the cycle resonated
positively in the public space, with
the theatre receiving praise and reviews
from audiences both in the Czech Republic
and abroad. The last tickets for some of the
May performances are still on sale. NDM
organizes special trains from Prague via
Olomouc and back for 4 of them - after the
evening performances, there are no more
departures from Ostrava towards Prague.
To mark the occasion, the theatre has
published the complete original librettos of
Smetana's operas with English translations;
the book is also available in the theatre's
e-shop. There is also a small publication
in which Leoš Janáček confessed his
admiration for Smetana's work.
