The Lipiny Golf Resort had a very good year as manager Mr Pavel Malina confirms. “The last event of our eighth golf season was the Lipiny Cup 2019 open tournament, which took place on a fantastic sunny day with excellent attendance,” Malina said. Many newcomers appeared, and beginners to the game competed in a special nine-hole category. The course’s dominant feature, a replica of a mining tower, saw tee offs and winners’ announcements to tournaments and other events for the public “…from ninehole tournaments for beginners, entertainment, social events, ladies’ days to eighteen-hole tournaments for skilled golfers,” Malina explained. Then he emphasized the operation of the Driving Range and Public Course which is classified as the best public golf course in the Czech Republic. It has become the most popular place for amateurs who enjoy coming to play a few holes in a fine, relaxed atmosphere with good prices. We are very busy working with the young, organizing day camps in cooperation 78 ǀ POSITIV 1/2020 with the Lipiny Golf Club association and supported by the OKD Foundation (Nadace OKD). On the other hand, we know that the recruitment of new players is a long-term programme, which in our case includes Saturday introductory lessons with instructions at the public course in the basics of golfing etiquette,” Malina said. Beginners with our training (whose number has exceeded 5,000 since starting these lessons in 2012) receive a so-called Start Card. The Lipiny Golf Resort also attracts players from Poland. Fifty boys and girls have regularly attended Kids’ Golf School. The gentleman’s sport is listed as an optional subject at the Elementary School Dělnická in Karviná. “Pupils who choose the subject take lessons at our course,” said Malina. “2020 is going to be a busy year, too. We have planned sixty events and public tournaments so far. We will start with nine-hole Friday tournaments from April 17th. Let me thank everyone for their favour and support.
