EDITORIAL Ing. Kvalita a intenzita podnikatelského prostředí výrazně ovlivňuje celkový rozvoj kraje a ochotu obyvatel zůstat v dané lokalitě. Dears Readers, I am delighted that we can present you with positive information from Moravia and Silesia yet again. This time, we have chosen the theme of infrastructure. Why infrastructure? It is a system that influences individual elements of business and lifestyle and is important in the development of our region. The quality and intensity of the business environment greatly affects the overall development of the region and the willingness of its population to stay in the given area. That is why it is crucial to focus on building up a strong infrastructure, which would be able to provide opportunities for investments into smart workplace environments, innovative business and increasing the quality of life. The length of all the roads currently owned by the regional government is longer than the distance from Ostrava to Madrid, and this year, these roads are undergoing a modernization worth over 1 billion CZK. In terms of transport accessibility, the region is ordering buses, that altogether travel over 30 million Km annually, and 859 train connections using 20 railway lines that span from Ostrava to Munich and connect Ostrava to the international airport of Leoš Janáček. Other than the latest information about projects in transport infrastructure, this issue also offers the unique perspectives of Daniel Beneš, the CEO of ČEZ, and singer Ewa Farna on their home region, information on the development of clean transport in Třinec, a look into the ecological efforts of Dopravní Podnik Ostrava, an exploration of how ecological traffic barriers are made, and last, but not least, a means of satisfying your taste buds and helping you explore the beautiful Beskyd Mountains.
