NATO Days and Czech Air Force Days 2018
in Ostrava to honor Czechoslovakia centennial
This year’s Ostrava NATO Days will be one of the most influential public events in the whole of the
Czech Republic, focusing on celebrating the 100th anniversary of the creation of Czechoslovakia, along
with Czech Air Force Days. The United States of America will be the partner country for NATO Days.
“I have been drowning myself in magazines about
aviation and aerospace ever since I was young, but it
wasn’t until the Ostrava NATO Days and the Czech Air
Force Days, that I got to see the machines I had read
so much about in real life, and make that childhood
dream come true,” says Ivo Vondrák, the Governor of
the Moravian-Silesian Region, who had been the most
influential partner for the event since last year, and will
support the performance of the Janáček Philharmonic
of Ostrava at the Mošnov Airport.
It will be incredible to see with our own eyes
the machines that our grandfathers and greatgrandfathers used to defend the independence,
freedom, and values we cannot -- cannot! -- take for
granted, especially in this day and age, alongside the
most modern creations contemporary aerospace
technology has to offer. The city of Ostrava has been
among the top partners of the event, financially as
well as in designing the program, for many years now.
”I am happy to say, that this year is no different, and
I hope that it will continue to be like this in the
future,” says the governor of Ostrava, Tomáš
Macura.
„This year, we will be paying extra attention to
historical Czechoslovakian technology in stationary
exhibits, however, visitors can also look forward to
many historical vehicles and replicas which will,
along with the most modern Czech- and foreignmade vehicles, provide a one-of-a-kind program
that will not be available anywhere else in the Czech
Republic and only seen in a couple of other places
around Europe,“ states Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman
of the company organizing the event, Jagello 2000.
Multiple subjects took part in securing the historical
vehicles, the Silesian State Museum, which is the coorganizer of the event this year, the Czech army, and,
exclusively this year, Škoda Auto, a special partner
of the event, and the holding Czechoslovak Group.
NATO Days and the Czech Air Force Days 2018 will
take part on the 15-16 of September at the Airport
of Leose Janaček Ostrava, and there is free entry.
