Třinec ironworks

to decrease dust emissions

In 2018, the steel producer Třinecké železárny is implementing ecological projects worth 900 million

CZK. Investments in de-dusting in raw material processing started last year will be finished. They

include two projects of the central vacuum collector at both agglomerations, and the construction of

a filtering station at the slag mill. Within the framework of the ecological project of the Operational

Programme “Environment,” two more projects, exceeding 700 million CZK, were approved for the

upcoming period.

Třinecké železárny has invested considerable sums in

measures improving air pollution in recent years. The

greatest part of the investments (2,600 million CZK)

was spent in 2013–2015 on facilities to de-dust the

largest and most-polluting operations. These measures

reduced total dust emissions from Třinecké železárny

by app. 75%.

Třinecké železárny signed a voluntary agreement with

the government of the Moravian-Silesian Region and the

Ministry of the Environment to annually pay for curative

stays for children in the Tatra Mountains, totalling

1,500 million CZK in addition to the aforementioned

investments in new technologies. Another 3 million

CZK will be spent spent on cleaning the streets and

another 3 million on the maintenance and planting of

urban greenery. “We are fully aware of the impact that

the industrial production has on the air and environment

of citizens of our city. That is why we want the plants

to use the best existing technologies to ecologize their

operation, as well as provide many other measures to

improve the situation,” says CEO Jan Czudek.
