What inspired you to open a bar in Třinec? Was it
your long term goal or a spontaneous idea?
Owning a bar has been a dream of mine for a long
time, I was just waiting for the courage to do it.
My good friend and business partner helped with
this.
When you first opened, how did the locals react? Did
they give you support, or perhaps criticism?
It is something I look back on fondly. Many of our
first time guests appreciated the decor, our approach
and our menu. Of course we heard our fair share
of comments along the lines of: “this cannot work,
people here only drink beer, cocktails and coffee
have no clientele.” Well, thirteen years later, we are
still going strong. We are grateful for the success
we had in Třinec and for the fact that we were
able to expand our services over the years. People
supported us, but no one believed that we would
last this long.
Do you have a favorite moment or special event that
stands out over the years since the bar opened?
There have been many memorable moments,
from visits by famous personalities (as we are part
of a theater) or moments spent with friends.
What were the most difficult challenges that
you had to face? Did you have to overcome
any significant obstacles?
Well, running a bar/coffee shop is a difficult challenge in
itself, but excluding that I would say that the methanol
affair and the following prohibition along with covid were
some of the most difficult times we had to go through.
Nowadays keeping up with trends is a tough task.
How do you keep your menu up to date? Are
you adapting to changes in the gastronomic and
entertainment industries?
You are correct, the world is constantly moving forward
and it only gets harder to keep up. Nonetheless, we
continuously expand our horizons through new
training and we attend a lot of barista and bartending
competitions, which always helps to keep us inspired.
What are your plans for the future? Are you
planning to expand your menu, introduce something
new to your entertainment program, or perhaps
some other innovation?
Plans for the future? That is a tough question. We would
love to be able to serve cocktails with love for another
decade at least. Mainly, we hope that we can keep
satisfying our guests, as for some, our bar is their DESTINY.
