SprayVision is Used by Porsche and Fiat

Within the first two years since its conception, the budding Czech company SprayVision managed

to sell their technologies in the fields of paint and lacquer to influential car manufacturers and global

companies. Thanks to an investment from J&T Ventures, they are now looking to strengthen their

position on the American market and expand towards Asia.

Through special measuring devices and

software analysis, SprayVision is able

to optimize the process of industrial

lacquering, this cuts down on the

manufacturer’s expenses for material and

operation. The company boasts a client

roster including car manufacturers such

as Porsche, Volkswagen or Fiat Chrysler

Automotive. SprayVision also helps paint

and lacquer technology manufacturers

perfect the features of their products, the

company’s tools use firms like BASF or

Sames Kremlin for this purpose.

“In 2018 we took a simple prototype to

a fair in Germany, in order to see if there

was demand for our idea. Today, we have

units in countries ranging from the USA

to Turkey. We work for big automotive

groups and paint manufacturers. We have

delivered our technologies to three out of

the six biggest global competitors in paint

application technology,” recounts Peter

Jahn, one of the company’s founders.

SprayVision also became known as the

absolute winner of this year’s Idea of the

Year competition, where it bested almost

200 star-ups.

In the beginning, Peter Jahn along with

cofounder Vojtěch Roul invested several

million Czech Crowns from their own

savings into the company. Jaroslav

Gergič, former CTO of GoodData and

current head of development at Cisc,

also became one of their first partners.

SprayVision turned a profit fairly early,

the J&T Ventures investment, however,

is aimed at strengthening the team with

experienced professionals in the field,

stabilizing their position in Europe,

further penetrating into the American

market and realizing plans of expansion

to Asia.

SprayVision is able to save 10–15 %

of paint used, while at the same time

increasing final product quality and

reducing the percentage of scrap

products. Furthermore, it is able to

shorten the lacquering process from

days to hours. Thanks to this, returns on

the investment are a matter of months

or, in some cases, weeks. This is one

of the reasons why the interest of large

companies has not waned, even in light

of a pandemic. SprayVision’s long term

revenue stems from annual payments for

software, its updates and related support.

“The size of this market is in the tens of

billions of dollars, and these technologies

are also applicable in other fields. In

addition to financial savings, SprayVision

helps corporations with digitalization and

the transition into Industry 4.0.”
