BUSINESS Not Even the Pandemic Could Stop Railsformers: the Reservatic Reservation Platform is Now Used by Hundreds of Operators Innovation as a pathway for development is becoming more common among companies, one of which is the firm Railsformers. Thanks to innovation, they were able to turn from a small local company into an IT agency. They celebrated their success with their global reservation platform Reservatic. The company is based in the T-Park of the MSIC, which is something they view as a big advantage. Throughout his time in business, which began during his studies at VŠB-TU Ostrava, Managing Director Ing. Jiří Kubica has gone through periods of success and crisis. Currently, Railsformers provides complex IT services for its clients and is developing which have accommodated for the current coronavirus pandemic. Right from the start of the spring wave, Reservatic offered new and current clients four months for free and invested considerable resources into development: for example, they added payment options into the application itself and offered users video consultations. Success came towards fall of this year, when the Reservatic project was picked as a base component for the Rosomák Central Reservation System, prepared under the oversight of the National Agency for Communication and Information Technology and the Czech Army as part of the project Smart Quarantine 2.0. Today, the system is used by hundreds of clients, the Regional Office of MSR, all hospitals established by MSR, all hospitals in the Pardubice Region and Hradec Králové University Hospital being among the most mention-worthy. The application even offers the reservation of a tour of the Czech presidential offices. Thanks to T-Park and collaboration with MSIC, the company has ample grounds for its development and close cooperation is beneficial to both sides. multiple original projects aimed at the global market. One of these projects is the independent start-up Reservatic, which has been in development since 2016 and was created in cooperation with MUDr. Otakar Lucák. Reservatic is a reservation platform that allows users to make reservations for doctor’s appointments, government offices or service providers of any size in the private sector through a single mobile or internet application. The project was planned to be very agile from the very beginning, and has seen many changes over the last year, many of Throughout its existence, Railsformers has used multiple support options from MSIC. These included, for example, help with the optimization of the overall company, as part of the Expand 1 and Expand 2 programs, where a hired expert, Vladimír Nakuda, helped with the transition in company concept and the composition of internal regulations and finances. Jiří Kocich then followed up on this by supervising the new company business strategy. “I can confidently say that, without the changes we made, the company would not be able to exist in the form we know today. In short, the advantages of the Expand programs lie in the fact that changes within the company do not have to be done on a trial-and-error basis. Expand helped us propose adjustments in a very timely manner,” Kubica says. Kubica tries to give back to the community from the advantages gained by cooperation with the MSIC. Through the MSR project Start Up Voucher, a voucher for startup companies and others, he evaluates projects and offers advice to businesses in their early stages to try and pass on his experience. Railsformers is also involved in the MSPAKT project, where they organize excursions and lectures for students in the Moravian-Silesian Region, and, as a socially responsible company, supports MŠ Martinov, the Bílovec Shooting Club, Žulová Voluntary Firefighter Unit, and others. As the managing director himself said, innovation is not solely about a single activity or product--it is a long, continuous process. Often, it is the process of innovation itself that has a larger effect on the company when compared to a single new product. “It is always about people, however. It is not about a single leader, but about the whole team being united and knowing what, how, where and why something should be changed. It is only after three years that I can have confidence in saying that we now have a perfect team that works in unison, and that the changes made through the Expand programs were definitely the correct ones to make.” The people at Railsformers are never idle, and are currently working on further innovations. The most recent one is a smart kiosk prototype called EvoCat which will expand on other software products. The design proposal for the kiosk is being created as part of another project aimed at supporting innovation, TechART, and all companies that take part in supplying EvoCat are from the Moravian-Silesian Region.
