Region Wants to Raise Ski Jumping
Champions
The ski jumping resort in Frenštát pod
Radhoštěm is not in good shape. The
resort hosts significant events of global
reputation and undoubtedly deserves
better standards. The Government of
the Moravian-Silesian Region therefore
supports the effort of the Sports Club
of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm in a general
renewal and modernization of the facility.
“Our athletes excel in ski jumping. We
cannot let this tradition fade out. The
regional government sees the ski jump
towers in Frenštát as our sports heritage
facilities which need to be looked after.
This is where the talents of the Olympic
winner Jiří Raška (who gave the resort its
name) have grown. This is where World
Cup Champion Jakub Janda trained too,
and where the ski-jump legend Jaroslav
Sakala shares his experience with the
young. I am sure we can raise more ski
jumping champions here,” says Stanislav
Folwarczny, Deputy Governor for Sports.

Dánští filmaři si vybrali Moravskoslezský
kraj a Ostravu pro natáčení krimi seriálů
DNA. Na tři dny (18. - 20. 3.) se proto
proměnil most M. Sýkory, kostel a hřbitov
Radvanicích, ulice ve Vítkovicích a Mari-
ánských Horách, atletický ovál v Porubě
nebo okolí třebovické elektrárny v místa
děje. Štáb čítá přes 70 lidí a produkce
během příprav a natáčení v regionu utratí
zhruba 3,5 milionu korun, popsala Hana
Vítková z Moravskoslezské filmové kan-
celáře.
„Jsme rádi, že Moravskoslezský kraj fil-
maře zaujal natolik, aby sem na natáčení
přesunuli celý štáb s technikou. Náš kraj
má obrovský filmařský potenciál, je důle-
žité toho maximálně využít. Natáčení pro-
paguje moravskoslezský region, posiluje
jeho pozitivní image, také k nám přináší
nemalé peníze. Spolupráci s filmaři chce-
me zintenzivnit, proto chystáme speciální
filmový fond. Bude finančně podporovat
produkce, které u nás natáčení plánují
a jejichž projekty skýtají i možnosti pro
marketingové využití,“ řekl náměstek hejt-
mana Moravskoslezského kraje pro ces-
tovní ruch Jan Krkoška.

Danish Filmmakers Shoot Crime Series
in Ostrava
Danish filmmakers picked the Moravian-
Silesian Region and Ostrava as a location
for their crime series, DNA. For three days
(18–20 March), the Miloš Sýkora Bridge,
the church and cemetery in Radvanice,
the streets of Vítkovice and Mariánské
Hory, the athletics stadium in Poruba
and the surroundings of the power plant
in Třebovice turned into movie sets.
The crew consisted of over 70 people,
and the production company spent
approximately CZK 3.5 million in the
region while shooting, according to Hana
Vítková of the Moravian-Silesian Film
Office.
“We are delighted that the filmmakers saw
the Moravian-Silesian Region as interesting
enough to move their entire crew and
technical equipment for shooting here.
Our region has enormous filmmaking
potential, and it is important to make
use of it as much as possible. Shooting
promotes the Moravian-Silesian Region,
supports its positive image, and last but
not least, it brings significant finances into
the region. We intend to enhance our
collaboration with filmmakers, so we are
working on a special film fund which will
provide financial support to productions
planning to shoot in our region, and
whose projects offer us marketing
opportunities,” said Jan Krkoška, Deputy
Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region
for Tourism.
