A Most Unusual Beer and Music Spa in Historic Cellars The Oderberg Beer and Music Spa has been operating in the basement of the Art Nouveau building Pod Zeleným Dubem (Under the Green Oak) in Bohumín for two years.
The spa offers guests a fine combination of a historic setting while relaxing to the sound of classical music from the turn of the 17th-18th centuries. The music, playing the entire duration of the session, makes the atmosphere of the place beautifully complete.
After the bath, clients rest on couchettes lined with hay brought from the Podyjí Protected Landscape Area because of its high content of healing herbs and its fine smell. This is also a good time to order a massage.
The beer treatment begins in a modern infrared sauna, which eases tense bodies and allows clients to calm down and tune in for the main part of the spa care: the beer bath itself. However, the bathtubs made from larch are not filled with beer, as many people mistakenly presume: it is a special mixture prepared from a unique prescription. The principal ingredient is malt and malt products with beer salt, beer oil and beer foam added. The real beer is served during the bath time: the beer on tap is unfiltered, unpasteurised Oderberg 12° lager. (In the programme “Exclusive”, guests may draw their own beer.)
There are many studies on healing and the beneficiary effects of beer on the human body. First, it has a positive effect on one’s cholesterol level. Its high-fibre content helps the healthy constitution of bones. The procedures taken in the Oderberg Beer and Music Spa therefore improves not only mental comforts but also physical. It becomes a perfect relaxation for those who need to leave behind their daily pressures and the fuzz of modern life in a unique place with an extraordinary atmosphere.
