To Reach Every Continent in Five Years
…That Is Target of Company Delivering Global
Mining Solutions
Most of us have already been to the mining museum Landek in Ostrava where you can take an original
mining lift down into the mine, walk through an exposition of mining rescue, see and learn about the
historic shaft-boring machine, and extraction and transport machinery. However, only a few know
that 30km from Landek, in Staré Město near Frýdek-Místek, cutting-edge mining technologies are
being produced by Ferrit to be distributed worldwide.
Ferrit is a Czech enterprise with a twenty-five-year
history. Its production develops the traditions of
Moravian-Silesian mining machinery producers. The
company has grown from initial service and repair jobs
to their own development and production of mining
machines and technologies, specializing mostly in
the transport of material and people in all kinds of
underground systems.
Ferrit currently delivers their products to almost twenty
countries all over the world, and in the sphere of
suspended mine transport the company ranks among
the top three global producers of this technology. Ferrit
machines operate from Poland, Russia, and Turkey
to China, Vietnam and even Mexico. Since the very
beginning, the company has aimed at technologies
used in environments with a high risk of explosion,
so the majority of Ferrit products are fully certified to
be used in the dangerous conditions. The company
maintains its leading position by regularly investing
in production technologies and product portfolios,
introducing, on average, two to three new machines
on the market annually.
Originally, the company focused on customers
engaged in underground coal mining. As the company
grew, the single commodity focus became risky
regarding future decrease of prices of coal. That is why
Ferrit nowadays invest large sums in the development of
trade, product portfolios and production technologies.
Ferrit’s portfolio currently contains not only suspension
transport technologies but also underground mining
and ground rail transport and trackless (wheel) mine
machines and loaders. These innovations open
new territories and bring new customers (e.g. in the
extraction of metal ores, precious metals, etc.). The
company’s ambitions therefore aim very high: in five
years they want to gain a foothold on each continent
where there’s underground extraction taking place.
