of a Company and Region?
Podle mého názoru platí, že většina firem
v regionu s domácím kapitálem je podin-
vestovaná. Jde zejména o tradiční firmy,
které existovaly už před rokem 1989, a pro
jejich nástupce. Bez nadprůměrného pří-
livu nového kapitálu budou trvale ztrácet
na konkurenceschopnosti. Zvýšení konku-
renceschopnosti firem však může samo-
zřejmě podstatně přispět také veřejná sprá-
va, a to zejména investicemi do moderní
a funkční infrastruktury – dopravy, energe-
tiky, ostatních veřejných sítí vč. IT, ale také
(a velmi podstatně) významným posílením
školství, zdravotnictví a ostatních obdob-
ných služeb. Podinvestovanost těchto ob-
lastí zásadně poškozuje nás všechny – firmy
i obyvatele kraje.
In my opinion, most companies in the
region are underinvested, especially those
businesses that were already operating
before 1989 and their successors. Without
a considerable amount of new capital, the
region will continue losing competitiveness.
A desired increase in competitiveness may of
course be nudged by public administration
and local governments, first and foremost
through investments in a modern and
efficient infrastructure: transport, energy,
public networks (including IT) as well as
supporting education, health care and other
services. Underinvestment in these spheres
means damage to all of us, both businesses
as well as inhabitants of the region.

Roli investic v rozvoji firmy a regionu
považuji za zásadní, což je jasně patrné
na příkladu Dolních Vítkovic a záchraně
nynější národní kulturní památky. Pro nut-
né investice se podařilo získat prostředky
mimo jiné z evropských fondů (IOP 1 a 2,
VaVpI a ROP). Přestože se v současné
době zaměřujeme především na kvalitní
dramaturgii a zajištění bezpečnosti ná-
vštěvníků areálu, nadále realizujeme také
stavební projekty – např. opravu koksá-
renských baterií, díky níž bude rozšířena
průvodcovská trasa. Výsledkem dobře
směřovaných investic je mimo jiné kvalitní
vzdělávání a služby, spokojení návštěvníci
a zvyšování atraktivity Moravskoslezské-
ho kraje.
The function of investments in the
development of enterprise and the region
is crucial as Lower Area Vítkovice clearly
illustrates when becoming a well preserved
National Heritage Sight. The necessary
investments included European grants
of Investment Operation Plans 1 and 2,
Research and Development Investment
and Regional Operation Plan and more.
Although our priority now is the best
programme possible and safety of visitors to
our facilities, we still continue working, e.g.
renewing the Coke Oven Batteries which
will become part of the guided tour. Well-
targeted investments mean good quality
education and services, happy visitors and
tourist, and general improvement in how
attractive the Moravian-Silesian Region is.
