The conference was first held in 2001
and has always focused on communal
waste disposal, primarily through energy
recovery. The conference this year will
host an expert panel on national strategic
documents related to the usage of
communal waste as a material source and
as partial replacement to non-renewable
resources. The motif of this year’s expert
conference is the termination of waste
dumping by 2024.
Česko-polská diskusní platforma ke vzájem-
né výměně informací o záměru prodlou-
žení Oderské vodní cesty v přeshraničním
úseku Kędzierzyn-Koźle (PL)–Ostrava(CZ).
Splavnění Odry v úseku od Kędzierzyna-
-Koźle přes Racibórz, Bohumín, Ostravy až
po Mošnov může být jedním z dosud pod-
ceňovaných faktorů rozvoje příhraničního
regionu. Podněty vyplývající z možnosti
vodní dopravy, jak turistické, tak i hospodář-
ské, bezpochyby přispějí také k posílení udr-
žitelného rozvoje obcí podél Odry v Polsku
i České republice. Navíc splavná Odra a tu-
ristická infrastruktura, která může vzniknout
během její výstavby, přispěje ke sblížení
obyvatel na obou stranách hranice. Proto
existence splavné Odry v příhraničním re-
gionu může být s jistotou jeho další silnou
stránkou.

The Czech-Polish discussion platform
to share information on an extension
of the Odra River Waterways on the
Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Poland) – Ostrava
(Czech Rep.) border. Making the river
navigable from Kędzierzyn-Koźle
through Racibórz, Bohumín, and
Ostrava to Mošnov may be a significant
contribution to the development of
border regions. Bonuses related to the
water transport in tourism and economy
may undoubtedly increase sustainable
development of the Odra in Poland and
the Czech Republic. Moreover, if the
Odra becomes navigable and connected
to hiking infrastructures (which may be
constructed during development), it will
contribute to better cooperation of all
inhabitants on both sides of the border.
A navigable Odra on the border region
means great improvement for all the
area.
