As one of the few top Czech athletes, you spent part
of your life in Ostrava when you studied at the Mining
University – Technical University Ostrava. How did you
enjoy your studies in Most and Ostrava, and what are
your memories of the student life?
I studied a combined programme of EMIOS (Economy,
Management and IT in Public Administration) to match
my intense travels, and I love remembering those times.
I took most lessons in Most, however I annually travelled
to Ostrava a few times to take those exams I missed
in Most. I met many fantastic people in the region of
Ostrava, both students and teachers.
Where did you begin your career?
I come from the mull of the Krušné hory, so the answer is
obvious: in Krušné hory.
What are you favourite locations and contests in the
region?
If you mean Ostrava and the Moravian-Silesian Region, the
closest I got was the National Championship at Praděd in
the Jeseníky Mountains. Last year, I came to Ostrava and
for the first time took part in the City Cross Sprint.
You come from a family of cross-country skiers. What
sports do your children prefer?
They do skiing. They started with football, kickbox,
dancing, etc. but they gradually grew fond of skiing
too. It is a logical development because we live in the
mountains.
As you mentioned, in 2018 you competed in the City
Cross Sprint in Ostrava. What are your impressions from
skiing in the Lower Area Vítkovice?
Frankly, I was excited. The contest itself, its organization, the
marvellous atmosphere, and the incredible location of the
race, really great. Thanks to that, some members of my eD
System Team took part in the race this season. Part of my
team came to Ostrava this year and the event in Vítkovice
was our last contest before the legendary Vasaloppet,
a skiing race taking place on Sunday a week after the City
Cross Sprint.
Your team is successful. Do you have any interesting
partners from our region?
Yes, besides the athletes and our crew, we owe our success
to our partners without whose support our excellent
results would hardly be possible. Our main partner is from
Ostrava: the company eD system, a.s. operating in IT and
all that is related, who became our partner in spring 2018.
Do you have a place in the Moravian-Silesian Region
which you like and which you would recommend our
readers to visit?
The region is rich in lovely places so anybody can choose
the perfect spot for them, no matter if they love nature,
sports, culture or industrial sights. It would be so unfair to
choose only one.
