BUSINESS Logistics Needs Our Support The logistics company SANDER SUPPORT LOGISTIC s.r.o. has been operating on the Czech market since 2009, providing transport packaging and handling. Employees put their hearts and top professionalism in their jobs, so it came with no surprise when, in 2020, the company was nominated for the Český Goodwill-Firmový Oscar (Czech Goodwill Business Oscar awards). Ing. Jan Valerián, CEO of the company, gave us this interesting interview. Mr Valerián, what prompted you to found the company? What does your job include? I have been working in trade and logistics since my third year at university. I worked in various positions in a few logistics companies before I founded SANDER SUPPORT LOGISTIC. I wanted to continue working in this field but to go my own way. We incorporated “support to logistics” in the name of our company. We prepare the goods to be safely transported, provide transport packaging, load the containers on any other transportation vehicle. Our success is proven by our good position on the market even in times of crisis. I am glad that I may consider our employees my friends, some of which have been on this road to success with us from the very beginning. The motto of this issue is investments: what types of investments do you work with in your enterprise? There are inevitable investments such as regular renewals of hand-operated tools, pneumatic nail guns and manipulation technologies. Then there are “feel-good investments”. These include the purchase of a superheavy fork-lift vehicle which allows us to improve the portfolio of our services in heavy-cargo manipulation, but it is also a machine which seriously makes your heart leap. Another chapter is the investment in the staff. There is still a great deal of work ahead for me to learn how to invest properly. I am not sure that the invested money and trust always pay back as much as I hope. What are the principal reasons that clients should consider Sander Support Logistic their prospective business partner? In my opinion, the crucial reason is that we are a reliable partner to our clients and contractors. We work hard, always keep contracted conditions and never cheat. We search for solutions that primarily benefit our customers. Thanks to the fact that we are well versed in various kinds of transport and the conditions of transport and business, we are able to optimize the processing and packaging of complex investment units. What is the most interesting project you have been involved in? One of the most attractive projects we have done was the transport of press machines from Sárvár, Hungary to Kaluga, Russia. Not only were we responsible for transportation packaging, but also for the full organization of the transport to the destination. The largest items, weighing thirty, forty and fifty tons, travelled through Mělník, Kiel and Petersburg. All accessories were transported by six trucks to Kaluga directly. In accordance with the order of the Russian client, all items arrived in Kaluga on the very same day. What is the key feature of your work? Is it being organized? It is the other way around. I feel that the motto of our work is improvisation with dates and flexibility. In the field of export packaging, we are almost at the end of the production process. We are the last step before expediting the product. Customers often try to resolve transport packaging at the last minute. Any delay in production causes changes in shipping and transport and then we need to adapt and improvise. Which locations would you recommend in the Frýdek-Místek area and which local meal do you like best? A bike ride in the Beskid Mountains is heaven for my soul and hell for my body. The bikeway connecting the peaks of Ropice and Velký Polom offers the most challenging parts and loveliest views. When I choose to leave the official marked tourist routes, the ride may also become a great adventure. My favourite local dishes include Wallachian sauerkraut soup, pâtés, and deer goulash.
