A Person‘s Life Is

Connected With Health,

Nature and Family;

Mine Is Also Connected

With Health Care

During my studies at grammar school and university,

I worked as a hospital attendant. Then I participated in the

privatization of numerous health resorts and bathhouses.

For five years, I worked in hospital management; for ten

years, in a foreign health care concern; and for five years

I worked for the most successful health care provider in

Central Europe. I gained experience not only in the Czech

Republic but also in neighbouring countries. I participated

in the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at the

University of Ostrava, with which I collaborate actively.

The Moravian-Silesian region is one of the

most populous regions in the Czech Republic.

There are six districts, almost 5,000 medical

surgeries, over thirty inpatient facilities and

almost 300 pharmacies. Apart from university

hospitals, there are also regional, municipal

and private hospitals.

The Moravian-Silesian Region coordinates

medical emergency services and its medical

facilities have been charged with public

service compensation since 2015. In short,

that means they have to ensure medical

care will be provided to the whole region.

The region fulfills this role very well. Its

functioning in the current situation is a good

example. The distribution of protective

medical equipment, the establishment of

a sampling centres network, the coordination

of hospitalized COVID patients, the

coordination of vaccine distribution and

securing the functioning of vaccination

centres.

of medical high schools and colleges play

an important role here.

Sometimes it may seem that the people

care more about their cars than about their

health. Hopefully, the current situation

will teach us a lesson and motivate us

to change this way of thinking, to start

taking care of ourselves regularly. I see

this as a challenge for the future and I am

ready to support it as much as possible.

People gradually have got used to new

technologies. For example, e-prescriptions

were only a fiction until recently. The region

is working on a range of great projects, such

as eHealth--modern, quick and effective

health care--and mHealth--mobile health

care, telemedicine or telemedpoint--in the

context of the strategic ‘Smarter Region’

project for a smart Moravian-Silesian

Region.

I believe that the profession of a doctor

or a nurse will gain its charm again, with

regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.

These are the professions that save us.
