of protection of our employees from the
disease, therefore also the protection of
our customers. Our internal precautions
were always
at least several weeks
(sometimes even months) ahead of the
governmental restrictions, whether it was
about face masks, respirators, separated
dining rooms or the new testing of 100 %
of the employees. It could seem that we
are exaggerating it. But I am convinced that
these are the best investments we made
last year and in the beginning of this year.
What are you doing to be even more
helpful to your customers in these
difficult times?
We need our customers to know that they
can fully rely on us. They can rely on the
fact that the current pandemic situation will
not jeopardize the flow of their goods (both
from suppliers and to the customers), which
is realized by DSV Solutions. That’s why we
protect our employees as much as possible,
so that our service is not jeopardized.
In spring, we managed to deliver thousands
of FFP2 type respirators thanks to our
business contacts. At that time they were
not available in the Czech Republic at
all. Everyone was using the fabric face
masks, even us. Then we gave out these
respirators for free to our employees and
also to our customers--to use them mainly
for their older family members, because
these respirators meant significantly better
protection than fabric face masks.
And I have to say that the responses from
the customers who used our help were
immensely warm and hearty.
What improvements/innovations were
implemented by your division during last
year, or are planned to be implemented
in the near future?
The word ‘innovation’ is used very often
in our field. DSV manages the so-called
Innovation HUB, where we test various
technologies for real use in our operation.
For quite a long time, we have been actively
engaging in 3D printing and using the
AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle). The
continuous robotisation and automation
of operations can be seen as standard in
many operations, or even as necessity.
But we are also already using drones, for
example, for goods inventory (the drones
fly around the warehouse and scan pallets)
and to pilot projects to deliver shipments
by DSV drone (B2B). Also, the “green”
goals in the field of long-term sustainability,
that DSV committed to fulfill by 2030, are
very ambitious. I believe that these values
will be more and more important for the
customers. And we want to meet their
expectations.
What are your goals for 2021?
If you are asking today, I mean in the
first half of March 2021, our short-term
is mainly to keep the maximum and
premium protection of our employees.
We have already been testing everyone
for a long time and the respirators were
also mandatory before the government
mandate. At the turn of the year, we
significantly reinforced our business
department and as we already have the
warehouses full, it is clear that our planned
very strong annual growth of performances
and revenues is our key local goal for
2021. To win the customer‘s selection
process is one thing, but the important
part of this goal is also the whole perfectlymanaged, successfully--finalized process of
implementing and moving the customer to
DSV. This is why we significantly reinforced
our local project and solutions-design team.
Thank you very much for the interview.
