The Park Behind the Radost Cultural
House in Havířov Has Been Renovated
New greenery, play areas, a relaxaon zone, parking spaces, upgraded roads and sidewalks,
new urban furniture, public lighng, and a rainwater drainage system—these are just some
of the features of the newly renovated park in the center of Havířov, located behind Kulturní dům
Radost (the Radost Cultural House). Last year, the park underwent an extensive reconstrucon,
enhancing its appeal and funconality.
Each year, Havířov dedicates significant resources
to the renovation of municipal housing, allocating
a substantial part of the budget to these improvements.
This systematic effort not only enhances living
conditions in the city but also goes hand in hand with the
revitalisation of public spaces. After all, a pleasant living
environment is not just about comfortable housing—it is
also about the surroundings that contribute to people‘s
overall well-being.
„The popular park in the heart of Havířov, together
with the cultural house, has been in operation since
the city‘s founding in 1955—until now without any
renovation or modernisation. The reconstruction was
long overdue. The goal was to restore the park with
diverse, flowering greenery that remains attractive
throughout the year, expand parking areas on Sadová
Street, and introduce a more sophisticated rainwater
management system through a new drainage network.
I am very pleased with how the renovation turned out.
According to the feedback, residents are very happy
with the transformation, and so am I,“ said Ondřej
Baránek, Mayor of Havířov, with satisfaction.
The park‘s iconic and beloved fountain, Chlapec
s rybou, remains its dominant feature, having adorned
the space since the late 1950s. Newly, residents can
enjoy six relaxation zones and a playground for the
youngest visitors, complete with a slide, swing, and
sandbox. The park is also full of benches with backrests,
providing plenty of seating.
Now a popular oasis of peace and greenery right in
the city center offers the public new opportunities for
outdoor leisure. Thanks to its well-thought-out layout,
it has also become a suitable venue for various cultural
and social events.
Havířov will continue modernising public spaces in
the future. Plans include the renovation of Republika
Square, Stromovka Forest Park, and the courtyard area
on Alšova Street.
Dominantou parku zůstala působivá a oblíbená kašna
Chlapec s rybou, která zdobí tento prostor od konce
50. let 20. století. Nově se občané mohou těšit ze šesti
odpočinkových zón či z hřiště pro nejmenší, které má
skluzavku, houpačku i pískoviště. Park je navíc plný la-
viček s opěradlem. Nyní oblíbená oáza klidu a zeleně
přímo v centru města nabízí veřejnosti nové možnosti
trávení volného času pod širým nebem, a díky důmysl-
ně rozvržené dispozici se stává vhodným místem i pro
pořádání různých kulturně-společenských akcí.
V modernizaci veřejných prostranství bude město
Havířov pokračovat i v budoucnu. V plánu je například
renovace náměstí Republiky, lesoparku Stromovka
nebo vnitrobloku na Alšově ulici.
