From the Rainbow Jersey
to the Olympics
In November 2024, Sabina Košárková became the world champion in pumptrack, fullling her
dream of wearing the coveted rainbow jersey. Although she also competes in BMX and downhill,
her ambions reach even further – aiming for the Olympics and the status of a Red Bull athlete.
She manages to juggle three disciplines, intense training sessions, and her studies. What is her key
to success, and what does she consider the greatest challenges of her career?
You’re now a world champion in pumptrack. What
were your initial feelings after the win, and what
does this triumph mean to you? Do you see it as
a commitment for the future?
Winning the rainbow jersey had always been my
dream, and after two silver medals, I finally managed
to make it happen. Sometimes it still hasn’t quite sunk
in. I’m absolutely thrilled and proud to be racing in
the rainbow jersey this year. I’ll do everything I can to
achieve a similar success again – not just in pumptrack,
but especially in BMX.
You’re not just a pumptrack rider. Which other
disciplines do you compete in, and which one is your
main focus?
My main discipline is BMX – that’s where I invest most
of my time. Besides that, I also race in downhill (editor’s
note: mountain bike downhill racing), which I enjoy for
the adrenaline and bigger jumps. It’s a discipline I’d like
to focus on even more in the future.
What challenges come with combining BMX,
downhill, and pumptrack racing?
I’d say they’re not only athletic but also life challenges.
These disciplines teach me to overcome fear, embrace
new challenges, and constantly push my limits. Each
one brings a different kind of adrenaline and technical
skills, which keeps me motivated to improve.
