INTERVIEW
Where There’s a Will,
There’s a Way
Ing. Pavel Halfar, Ing. Yvona Halfarová
the client. I can say that each of our job
orders is unique. We meet our clients’
demands thanks to the great expertise
of our employees. We prefer complex
and high-quality solutions. This helps us
promote the strong brand name.
In over a quarter century of operations, you
must have experienced some failures as well
as victories. Which of your achievements
would you like to emphasize?
My top priority is a happy customer, followed
by the progress of the company and the
growth of our employees. Having all of these
is a most positive achievement. Just today
we received an email from a long-term client
thanking one of our service technicians for
a job very well done. His mindfulness and
observation prevented further damage
to bypass dampers.
Your company is at the point where the
family is stepping back from their executive
positions. What exactly does this mean for
the operations of your business? Do you
collaborate with external advisors? If so,
what is your experience?
Our small family business has grown quite
large. We have defined the processes and
competences within the managerial team.
However, nowadays there is little prospect
Mrs Yvona Halfarová is a manager at IPH Servis Morava, s.r.o.
Her motto is “where there’s a will, there’s a way.” The technical/
trading company which she manages with her husband,= has been
in operation for twenty-six years, and Mrs Halfarová has always
enjoyed looking for the best ways to achieve her aims, overcome
obstacles, and celebrate the results and achievements of good
work. She introduces us to the story of a family enterprise,
fulfilling the company’s vision, and her favourite places in the
Beskid Mountains.
in me and my husband leading the company
alone. We have been the chief executives
for much too long; we feel a certain kind
of weariness and maybe even inertia. We
must go on and grow, we want a successful
future for our company. We knew that
this would be a crucial step, definitely not
a simple one, and quite a sensitive matter,
too. We therefore asked our partners
in education, New Dimension, s.r.o. Their
managers and other representatives of
the company have actively been helping
us achieve the transformation for about
three years. Their views as outsiders bring
a significant drive to the transformation.
An insider much too often does not see
or understand some issues. Now we already
have a management, a managing director,
a strategy and its components. We are getting
used to our role as authorities who are not
part of the daily administration but control
the enterprise from a proper distance.
I know that your family company
emphasizes helping others, especially
children. Will you tell us a few words about
social responsibility? And what about your
connections to the Beskid Mountains?
Which are your favourite locations?
We
consider
social
responsibility
extremely important. Responsibility for the
environment is in fact a great part of our
enterprise: we supply our clients with
components which minimize undesirable
emissions. In the social sphere, we try
to help wherever we can. We have lately
been regularly sponsoring purchases of
new vehicles for, for example, a seniors
home or a foster home for children
in need of special treatment. We
cooperate with the Dobrý anděl and Bona
Helpo foundations. We have sponsored
the new type of Babybox at the hospital
in Frýdek-Místek, and we cooperate
with the Village Council in Baška. I am
very happy that our employees also
participate in charitable activities, too:
they organized Lots of Socks/Down
Syndrome Day. We live and work in the
mull of the Beskids, therefore we simply
must support regional producers and
services.
We love visiting locations with a distinct
atmosphere and lovely views, and the
Beskid Mountains really has a lot of both.
My husband and I enjoy kickbiking, so
you may often see us on the trails on
Čupek, but we also go hiking, often to
the top of the queen of the Beskids, Lysá
hora.
Thank you for the interview.
