Paper-Free Public
Transport in Ostrava
Dopravní podnik Ostrava a.s. (DPO, Ostrava
Transport, joint-stock co.) terminated the sale of
traditional paper tickets on Dec. 31, 2019. January
2020 therefore witnessed a considerable increase of
single payments via bank cards as well as credit ticket
check-ins. The new e-shop allowed the passengers
to purchase long-term and season tickets during the
national lockdown too.
According to CEO Daniel Morys, “The transformation was
smooth for the population of Ostrava. In the past year we have
noted a rocketing increase in the paycard check-ins, so the dated
system of paper tickets is not kept any longer.”
A single ticket can currently be purchased on DPO vehicles
via “tap-and-go” contactless card (or through ApplePay and
GooglePay), Credit Ticket, the MojeDPO (My Transport
Company) app, or SMS. New vending machines selling credit
tickets respond to cards and Euros, and serve as info-points. They
display information on lock-outs, the current position of vehicles,
and timetables.
In March 2020, DPO started a new design of the ticket e-shop
in cooperation with the ODIS coordinator. Passengers can
therefore manage their fares from the comforts of their homes
at www.dpo.cz.
The previous system of ticket purchase and management was not
as user friendly; moreover, it was split into two different interfaces
which required individual maintenance. Now all the features
are contained on a single link, and passengers can comfortably
coordinate and manage their journeys from a single account.
nových Kreditních jízdenek i ODISek.
“Hardly anyone attends their bank in person; why should people
go to our sales points to buy a season ticket? I am very happy that
we and KODIS have found an efficient, mutual method to a new
form of ´internet ticketing´,” Morys explained, and concludes
that DPO is further developing e-shop optimization, including
attractive novelties for passengers.
A single e-shop provides fare purchase, an overview of
connections and season tickets for credit card, Credit Ticket, and
ODIS Card users.
„Nejjednodušší a zároveň nejrychlejší a nejlevnější je cestovat
s dlouhodobou jízdenkou na běžné platební kartě. V novém
e-shopu ji můžete mít za pár kliknutí a nemusíte vůbec nikam
chodit,“ vyzdvihuje výhody Daniel Morys.
“The easiest, fastest and cheapest travel is with a long-term ticket
on a common card which you can purchase through the e-shop
after a few clicks without going anywhere,” Morys summarized.
In the new system, students and employees of VŠB–Technical
University can upload long-term and/or season tickets to a card
or buy credit on their electronic wallets using their school IDs.
Anybody can easily recharge and manage their credit tickets, as
well as pay a fine.
Nový e-shop je přístupný na adrese www.dpo.cz/eshop.
The new e-shop is at www.dpo.cz/eshop.
