EDUCATION
What Is Engu and how does it work?
Engu is a 3D educational platform featuring a game-
based environment designed specifically for students,
schools, and families. Within it, pupils create their own
educational projects, interactive scenarios, and even
their own stories and games. In doing so, they naturally
absorb the principles of algorithmic thinking, logic,
design, and programming. Crucially, they do not need
any prior IT knowledge.
The platform uses intuitive visual scripting, meaning
drag-and-drop code blocks that students may already
know from tools like Scratch. A major advantage
of Engu is that it brings everything into a 3D
environment, which feels far more natural to students
and is also significantly easier to work with on
a computer. They can create independently for several
hours without the help of a parent or teacher.
The result is not just a game, but clear evidence that
the child has genuinely understood how things work.
In the virtual world, they can build something, take
it apart, test what happens. And in doing so, gain
the knowledge needed to understand how things
function in real life.
The company thus systematically supports projects
focused on developing STEAM competencies.
Engu in Schools: Teaching in Line With the National
Curriculum
One of the biggest barriers to introducing new
technologies into schools is administrative burden,
uncertainty, and teachers’ limited time capacity.
When new tools are introduced, there is often
concern about whether they will genuinely fit
into the curriculum. Engu removes this barrier.
The platform comes with ready-made lessons that align
with the national curriculum framework, with clearly
defined objectives and allocated time for individual
lessons.
Engu is not intended solely for IT classes. Its potential
extends to subjects such as science, history, and even
art. School also gains access to methodological
support, regular training sessions, and the opportunity
to collaborate with instructors from Bohemia Interactive
during the pilot phase. Software licences are scalable,
ranging from a single classroom to the entire school.
The Engu team is also behind edu-centrum.cz,
a platform focused on advancing teachers’ digital
education. They provide comprehensive support
through professional courses, webinars, project
days, and workshops, positioning themselves as
a strategic partner. In doing so, they help eliminate
teachers’ uncertainty when introducing new tools
into the classroom and offer support throughout
the entire school year.
Engu at Home: Meaningful Digital Activity
Since the end of 2025, Engu has also been available
as a home licence—offered through monthly or annual
subscriptions for individuals, as well as discounted
pricing for families. This allows children to create
outside of school and continue developing projects
in their free time.
This opens up new possibilities. A child’s own game or
educational project can serve as:
a portfolio for entrance exams to further education,
a concrete showcase for a job interview,
a submission for a school competition.
A Safe Environment for Every Child
At a time when parents and schools are rightly
concerned about children’s online safety, Engu
provides a clear answer: the platform never connects
to public gaming servers, contains no advertisements
or in-app purchases, and processes all data in full
compliance with GDPR. Its operation is entirely
under the control of the school or the family. Children
create within a safe, closed environment, giving parents
confidence that their child will not be exposed to risks
such as cyberbullying.
School Through Play – Truly
Comenius’s idea of “school through play” takes
on an entirely new dimension with Engu. It is
not just about making learning more enjoyable.
It is about children learning through creation,
experimentation, and solving real-world problems—
exactly how the world they are entering works. Engu
is not merely a tool for teaching programming; it
is a platform that shapes both logical and creative
thinking, preparing students for professions that do not
even exist yet.
