quality and prestige. Already in the early editions,
it became clear that it had the potential to grow
into a stable platform for presenting construction,
engineering design and architecture in the region.
That is why we approach each edition with the utmost
responsibility and a strong emphasis on professional
organisation.
Who comes to your mind? Who should
be remembered?
On behalf of PULARY, I can say that we are proud to have
been part of the Construction of the Moravian-Silesian
Region competition since its inception. We would like
to thank all the organisers for their trust, as well as all
partners, evaluators, collaborators and performers
for their contribution to its success.
We also respectfully remember the individuals who
were closely associated with this competition and are
no longer with us – the chairman of the competition,
Milan Balabán, and Petr Poledník from the Association
of Building Entrepreneurs.
I believe that this competition helps to raise the profile
of construction projects in the Moravian-Silesian Region
and leaves a lasting mark for the future generations.
The Building of the Year competition shows that remarkable
and outstanding projects are being created here. The Moravian-
Silesian Region is also a very active investor. Each year, our budget
includes dozens of construction projects and reconstructions;
this year, we have more than 7.5 billion CZK allocated
for investments. So once again, we will have strong contenders
in the Building of the Year competition. For example, we
are pleased with the revitalisation of the sports complex
at the Cihelní Grammar School in Frýdek-Místek, as well as
the newly built modern facility of the Hortenzie Home in Frenšt
pod Radhošm. We will also be submitting additional projects,
and I believe that one of them will succeed again this year.
This year, the 20th edition of the Construction of the Moravian-
Silesian Region competition enters its jubilee year as an important
professional platform supporting high-quality construction
in the region. The competition will present an overview
of completed projects distinguished by a high architectural,
technical and practical standard. At the same time, the jubilee edition
reflects current trends in construction, particularly the emphasis on
a responsible approach to the environment and the development
of high-quality public space. In the long term, the competition has
created a platform for showcasing cooperation between investors,
designers and construction companies. The twenty-year tradition
of the competition confirms its stable and significant position
in presenting the development of the construction industry
and improving the environment of the Moravian-Silesian Region.”
The Construction of the Moravian-Silesian Region competition
aims to recognise buildings whose architectural, technical or
social quality rises above the ordinary standard and has a positive
impact on the environment in which they are created. We consider
it important not only to highlight completed projects, but also
to systematically promote awareness of quality architecture
and construction as an integral part of the region’s development.
The competition is therefore understood not only as recognition
of the work of architects, designers, construction companies
and investors, but also as an inspiration and a challenge for future
generations of commissioners and authors to seek responsible,
cultivated and long-term sustainable solutions that contribute
to the quality of life in the Moravian-Silesian Region.”
“Every building has its own story. That story is often complex, long,
and full of excitement and surprises. From the initial intention
to realise a project through to the moment of its completion, it is
often necessary to navigate a challenging and demanding journey.
Completed buildings then stand as a testament to the courage
of investors, the creativity of architects, the ingenuity of designers
and the craftsmanship of contractors.
I am very pleased that, thanks to this competition, we are able
to inform the wider public about the interesting buildings being
created in our region. We believe that we will build on the success
of previous editions and that the final of the competition will
become a dignified celebration of the construction industry
in the Moravian-Silesian Region.
