Pamětní plastika Jane a objekty
nyní vystavované na Slovensku jsou
komornějšího rázu, ale ty jsi také, jak již
bylo dříve zmíněno, autorkou řady
monumentálních děl. Jaký přístup si
takto měřítkem odlišné
objekty vyžadují?
Pokaždé pracuji s prostorem a také s pří-
během konkrétního místa a člověka.
U těch monumentálních děl musím vy-
hodnotit, jak bude realizace rezonovat
právě v prostoru. Začínám skicami, potom
dělám papírové modely a nakonec vytvá-
řím model z finálního materiálu v měřítku
1:10. Když tvořím model, už přemýšlím
nad technickými výzvami, které monu-
mentální realizace obnáší. Vím, co si u kte-
rého materiálu mohu dovolit. Vytvářím
tedy díla od konceptu až po realizaci a fi-
nální instalaci.
Každodenní práce s rozžhaveným kovem
zajisté vyžaduje úplné soustředění
a fyzický výkon. Jak kompenzuješ takové
nasazení, jak odpočíváš, máš vůbec
ještě čas na rodinu a případně na nějaké
koníčky? V jakých podmínkách pracuješ?
Jak už jsem se zmínila, moje tvorba není
jen o fyzické práci. Náročná ale je a vždyc-
ky přistupuji k novým dílům s plným nasa-
zením. Odmalička jsem hodně sportovala,
což mi dalo dobrý základ. I nyní relaxuji
sportem, nově chodím s dětmi do juda.
Ráda trávím čas v přírodě, která mě uklid-
ňuje a inspiruje. Hodně cestuji – ráda roz-
šiřuji své horizonty.
Vyrostla jsem v Německu, žila v Rakousku
a Itálii. Rozhodla jsem se ale s rodinou
zakotvit v Příboře, odkud působím inter-
nacionálně. Vybudovala jsem si zde nový
ateliér a kovárnu, z nichž mám velkou
radost. Hodně mi záleželo na tom, aby
v mé nové dílně bylo dost světla. V atelié-
ru nyní vytvářím volnou tvorbu i zakázky
pro českou i zahraniční klientelu. Toho,
kdo se zajímá o mou tvorbu, ráda v ateli-
éru přivítám.

I had the opportunity to get to know
you at the end of 2023 for the occasion
of your exhibition in Příbor. Tell us how
it came about? What was the theme
and what was it actually about?
The great-granddaughter of Sigmund
Freud, Jane McAdam Freud, founded
the Jane McAdam Freud Gallery in Příbor
together with her husband, but sadly
passed away just a few months after its
opening. Jane and I were friends and had
a great deal in common. Our conversations
and shared experiences deeply inspired
me, and shaped my artistic journey.
After her death, her husband Peter
Henson approached me with an offer
to organise an exhibition at the Jane
McAdam Freud Gallery as its first guest
artist. This motivated me to create
a new installation of contemporary steel
sculptures, inspired by Jane’s conceptual
approach. At the same time, I also referred
to the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
The exhibition consisted of two main artistic
installations – Fertile Universe and Pompeid
Libido – complemented by several
sculptures. At the core of the Pompeid Libido
installation are Barbie dolls, embalmed
with iron scales, drawing attention to our
consumer society, the brevity of life,
transience, and global warming. In doing
so, they touch upon fundamental human
questions such as “Where do we come
from?”, “What are we doing here?”,
and “Where are we going?”.
The Fertile Universe installation consists
of 365 steel eggs, corresponding
to the number of days in a year, and one
golden egg. All the eggs hang on
transparent threads, each at a different
height from the ceiling.
Among other things, the creation of this
project was inspired by the Egyptian
process of mummification. I was also
influenced by my visit to Pompeii, where
I saw casts of bodies buried in ash and thus
preserved in time.
The exhibition is currently on display
in Slovakia, at the prestigious Tatra
Gallery in Poprad, on the occasion
of its 65
th
anniversary.
How did the local audience receive
you and your exhibition?
I was delighted that so many people came;
they were very interested in the concept
of the installation and in my work – it
was something new for them. It was
the premiere of my work in Slovakia, and it
was a wonderful experience, also thanks
to Director Anna Ondrušeková and her
team. I was given truly large spaces, and it
was a joy to install my works there.
The main installation, I Am Always Yours,
was complemented by the Circular
Spaces series and a collection of design
works presented in a separate room. This
collection consisted mainly of lighting
pieces, but also sculptural designs
and models, for example a model of my
largest steel sculptural group to date –
the Nativity scene Adoration of the Three
Kings, which I created for the Neustift
Monastery near Brixen in Italy.
