here, but the problem is how to get them
to us quickly. That is where the change
needs to be made. Then there is that
fact that people have to just get used to
doing something else and prepare for
new training as needed. We also need
to reach those people who have some
sort of handicap and integrate them into
the labour market.
example, when it comes to migration
policy, the government has had a clear
handout from us for over a year, but has
not yet found the political courage to
push it through. This is something that
must change.
The Confederation of Industry is
a partner of the government and also
Let us now return to the MoravianSilesian region which is historically
an industrial region and one that is
undergoing significant transformation.
What is the role of the Confederation
with the unions in the tripartite. How
could this partnership be made more
effectively?
First of all, we need to improve
communication with each other which
can be challenging during the time
of the government’s tax package.
It has disrupted the social dialogue
but we have been able to negotiate
and to keep the dialogue going.
A calm political climate is extremely
important for investors. However,
that dialogue has to produce results,
as it is not just a conversation. For
of the Industry in the Moravian-Silesian
region?
It’s still one of the most industrial regions in
the whole European Union. We’ve come
a long way in effective transformation,
but we still have a lot to sort out. For
example, energy resources for the two
main steelworks, new technologies such
as green transformations, significant
investments for heating changes and
digitalisation. We can do all of that
in the region then we would be very
successful. If we manage to transform
Karviná and Bruntál, I am convinced that
we will be one of the most successful
industrial regions in all of Europe.
You are a very busy person and we know
you are also a sportsman, a musician,
a composer and that you enjoy the
theatre. For our last question, how do
you still find the time to pursue your
interests, or has that become more
difficult for you?
Well, when I look at my diary, I feel like I’m
on level 30 of a puzzle where the calendar
keeps getting harder to put together.
However, I manage to keep my weekends
open for my family and for my hobbies.
When I travel, I like to listen to audiobooks
of various genres, from the lighter ones
to the more technical ones, for example
what the economic future of the region
will be.
Thank you for the interview and I wish you
every success.
