professional qualifications, language and management
skills. Without this attention to detail it would not be
successful, and because of this training, we are pleased
to be one of the leaders in this area.
You’ve already briefly mentioned your relationship
with the students. In regards to the T-profi
competition, are you one of the supporters of it?
Yes, the competition was in Ostrava and I really
enjoyed it. I often wonder why there couldn’t be one in
Krnov as well, and I look forward to having it there too
one day. Since the very first year, we have had several
teams and the interest in the competition continues to
grow. The Regional Chamber of Commerce also helps
us in this matter. Companies from Bruntál and Krnov
have won the regional competition and once they even
achieved the national final. After that national win, we
took the entire team around a tour of Prague, and the
mayor of Bruntál also invited them to the town hall.
The students were very happy about their award. Our
company teams also partner with students in primary
school, so then in the future we can also place our
attention and focus towards them. The students really
deserve recognition for their interest, great effort and
competitiveness.
Do you think that perhaps such a victory will help
young talents to choose and achieve their desired
profession?
Absolutely. The District Chamber of Commerce has
eighteen engineering member companies in the region
and we must do everything we can to ensure that
we have a steady supply of quality employees. As
a chamber, we can provide opportunities like taking
a trip to the International Engineering Fair in Brno, for
example, where we take students from those schools
who are interested in learning about new technologies
and trends.
I would also like to mention that, as a Chamber, we
are represented in the so-called Memorandum, which
was signed in 2019. The issues in the memorandum are
divided into three sections - the issue of the outflow of
people from our region, the issue of the environment
and the issue to improve cross-border cooperation.
However, so far its effect has not been very successful.
For example in the Czech Republic, we are used
to not pointing out who the big environmental
polluter is. However, our Polish neighbors have
proposed a solution: they have a drone, which
records the pollution and remedies can be arranged
immediately.
You have a wide range of activities going on. How
do you personally rejuvenate and recharge? Do you
prefer engaging in sports or spending time in the
garden?
I do like sports and we go to play hockey, supporting
the city of Třinec. Even though it’s from dawn to dusk
and sometimes on weekends as well, I like my job very
much. Sometimes when you go to bed with thoughts
about work and you still get up in the morning with
them, but the results you see are amazing. I have my
business and my wife has her own work taking care
of the house and the garden. Even our daughter
does economic work for the company, and a lot
of our accomplishments are because of her. We
also like to have fun - we organize Children’s Day
parties, Christmas parties and many other events.
The proceeds from the events go to disabled children,
and we donate to the children’s home in Lichnov. Last
year we raised 11.000 CZK, as everyone contributes
to the event. It gives an opportunity to help those who
are not as lucky in life as we are.
Mr. Bašisto, thank you for a pleasant interview and we
wish you success in everything you do.
Aer that naonal win, we took
the enre team around a tour of Prague,
and the mayor of Bruntál also invited
them to the town hall. The students were
very happy about their award.
