How To Find Resources
For Digital Transformaon
We interviewed Josef Svoboda from
Dytron s.r.o., a company that deals with
the digitalisation of company processes,
and asked him what are the prerequisites
for a successful digital transformation
project. Here is his viewpoint.
A digital transformation project is
a major and strategic challenge for
small and medium-sized companies,
which requires a clear definition of the
target vision and thorough preparation.
Management must have well-defined and
measurable goals of what thecompany
wants to achieve over the next few years.
The goal is not to purchase new digital
technologies, as those are only a tool.
A crucial aspect for setting the goals and
the corresponding digital transformation
strategy is to increase the added value
for customers. The company should have
a clear idea of what measurable values of
growth and competitiveness it wants to
achieve.
Digitalisation is a frequently mentioned
topic today and the vast majority of
companies have it in their strategy.
However, very often, it is a difficult
topic for emerging companies to grasp.
Companies are under pressure from
the offers of various IT technology
suppliers, which then find it difficult
to fit into their environment. Other
problems include determining what
criteria is used to select technologies,
in what order to deploy those criterias,
and how to determine if a given solution
is appropriate for the company while
priced accordingly.
One area that is underestimated is
the companys readiness for the new
system in terms of established processes,
systematic approach, and employee
preparedness. It often happens that
a company implements digital technology
without preparing its employees. In the
best-case scenario, employees do not
utilise the technology to its full potential,
while in the worst-case scenario, they
refuse to use it, leading to a negative
experience right from the start of
the digitization process.
The aforementioned points highlight
the importance of thorough preparation
and planning for digitalisation activities.
We recommend working with experts
who have experience in this process.
Evaluating existing processes and
the digital readiness of the company
form the basis for preparing and
implementing a digitalisation project.
We will return to this topic in future
installments of our series.
