My Life
Revolves
Around
Education
I was 10 years old when my parents and
I relocated to Bílovec and I soon realised
that I missed Ostrava. After completing my
university studies in Olomouc, I returned
to Ostrava and decided that I wanted to
teach. I wanted to be an educator and
teach with a different approach, in such
a way that would be interesting and
visually stimulating. In a way that everyone
would enjoy, including even myself and
my children. Fortunately, I believe I was
successful and I was able to achieve this
goal, both at school and in my own home
where I worked with my two sons.
During my time at the Ostrava editorial
office of Czech Television, I had
the opportunity to create uplifting reports
that emphasised an active lifestyle and
personal well-being. It was a fulfilling
experience that contributed to the diversity
of my professional career, which was
further complemented by my involvement
in the field of geoinformatics and the world
of marketing communications.
When I visited the French centre Le Cité
in Paris with my family back in 2009, I was
filled with excitement. It was a dream
come true to witness everything I had
imagined become a reality. The use of
Illustrative aids, interactive exhibits and
enriching displays was all in one place,
making it an amazing setting. I was already
working at the Ostrava Planetarium when
the dream of having similar educational
institutions in the Czech Republic took on
a new dimension. And that opportunity
finally arrived. In 2014, the Czech Science
Centres were established, and I was a part
of it. Full of enthusiasm and determination,
my colleagues and I from various parts of
the country came together and founded
the Czech Association of Science Centres.
Our goal was to collaborate so that we
could build this community more effectively.
I then transitioned from the planetarium
to the Science & Technology Centre in
Dolní Vítkovice, where I currently oversee
the lecturing team and the activities they
produce. From the person behind the initial
establishment of the Association, I then
became its director in 2020 because I would
like to continue to promote these ideas.
I perceive modern Ostrava as a city
in transition, moving from a history of
strenuous manual labour to a realm
of open opportunities. It is the heart
of a region characterised by a strong
work ethic, where the resilience of its
people conceals the capacity to generate
innovative ideas, implement smart
solutions, tackle obstacles and transform
setbacks into successes.

A place where we need to encourage
people to have healthy self-esteem,
ignite sparks of pride in their knowledge
andprovide the skills and let them succeed.
These are a few of the reasons why,
through the Proxima Club, I get involved
to support young and talented people
who are interested in working on and
developing themselves. I am not aware
of any other city that has implemented
such a systematically developed talent
management such as Ostrava, and I am
proud to be able to help with it all.
