Mr. Vilč, how do you evaluate this year's record
number of entries in the Stavba MSK competition?
It is indeed a record number of constructions, which
I consider a tremendous success after the slowdown
caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the energy
crisis. In my communication with the professional public,
I also perceive a higher prestige of the competition and
the effort of architects and builders to publicly present
their constructions.
Have you noticed any new trends or innovations in
architecture and construction among the submitted
projects?
This year, more than in previous years, we encountered
a greater use of technologies in evaluated constructions
in terms of increased re-use of waste heat, the use
of solar energy, and heat pumps.
What do you see as the main benefits of this
competition for the Moravian-Silesian region?
It is primarily the promotion of quality construction
and the associated recognition of builders, architects,
designers, and contractors. The entire region is then
presented at both the national and international levels
with the most interesting projects, which are attractive
to the general public and visitors to the region.
What are the most common challenges you face when
evaluating such a large number of diverse projects?
This year was truly exceptional in terms of evaluation,
as the jury had to choose from up to fifteen quality
constructions in individual categories. All aspects
of the evaluation were thoroughly examined, and
often only small details made the difference. However,
after thorough discussion, the individual awards were
granted by a large majority of the jurors.
Thank you for the interview.
