In the second part of our series, we
will focus on the use of generative
Artificial Intelligence in manufacturing
practice. Imagine a situation where
your key equipment breaks down. In
this situation, wouldn't it be optimal
to directly ask "What happened to you
and how do I fix it?" rather than spend
hours searching for a solution? Today's
Artificial Intelligence systems, such
as the Edmund AI technical assistant,
make this possible.
The EDIMA solutions s.r.o. startup has
developed the Edmund platform, which
provides technicians with a digital
assistant that can find solutions to their
questions in seconds. Edmund learns
and mimics the behavior of its physical
colleagues, so it doesn't make up its
answers, but backs them up with facts
that technicians can then rely on.
"In the industry, we have always
encountered the same problems
with our customers: unknown causes
of downtime, unused data, loss of know-
how with the departure of employees,
and the increasing complexity
of technology," says Jakub Szlaur,
co-founder of EDIMA solutions s.r.o.
"This led us to develop the Edmund AI
platform, which solves these problems
intuitively" adds Jakub.
Edmund answers the question "Where
can I find diagrams for the conveyor
motor?"
How Edmund works?
The Edmund AI platform collects
various types of data such as technical
documentation, PLC programs
or process data from production
machines and historical maintenance
records. Edmund acts as a perfect
virtual team of engineers that tirelessly
supervises production processes 24/7.
Users can interactively communicate
with Edmund via text queries (and in
the future by voice).
Where is Edmund already being used?
The first customer that is actively using
Edmund is FESTO Czech Republic.
"Edmund is a cutting-edge technology,
thanks to which our customers achieve
better results in technical education
with our equipment," says Filip Škeřík,
manager of the didactics department
at FESTO Czech Republic. But Edmund
does not stop with pneumatic systems
and is beginning to find its application
in other technologies and industrial
companies with a worldwide presence.
This demonstration of the use of AI
illustrates one of the principles
of the added value of this technology.
We leave the time-consuming
and administratively demanding work
with data and documents to AI, which
can do it 1000 times faster, leaving
humans with the invention, application
and responsibility for their work.
