ear Readers, I am very pleased
that our beautiful region can
boast a successful development of tourism,
which is confirmed by the visitor statistics.
Last year, the number of tourists staying in
the Moravian-Silesian Region exceeded
the significant threshold of one million.
We are constantly trying to innovate
and expand our tourist offer. One of our
flagship projects is the Technotrail, which
presents industrial, technical and craft
heritage with its unique concept and offers
visitors more than three dozen places with
a unique genius loci. In addition, people
will find five new stops on the Technotrail
this year. The Pojez project, which brings
together the best restaurants, bars, cafés,
farms and businesses in the region, has also
gained new members. We are showing that
a trip can be combined with a delicious
gastronomic experience and we are
attracting visitors for quality food and drink.
Pojez also includes great gastro festivals,
and I am glad that the so-called Pojez
Fests have already found a firm place in the
calendars of lovers of good food, drinks
and fun. We have successfully wrapped up
the Pojez fest in Ostrava's Dolní Vítkovice.
This year's second Pojez fest will take place
on August 10 in Karlova Studánka and
we will meet again for the third time on
September 7 in Ostravice. Ben Cristovao,
Slza and Jaroslav Uhlíř will perform
at Pojez fest. One of the essential steps
towards the development of the tourist
infrastructure this year was the merger
of two prestigious golf resorts, which
created a new and impressive golf
destination. This connection strengthens
the attractiveness of the region not only
for local golf enthusiasts, but for tourists
from all over Europe. Golf is not a sport for
hundreds of thousands of visitors to our
region like hiking, but the increase in golf
prestige in the form of the largest golf resort
in the Czech Republic is very important for
our region. I believe that the Moravian-
Silesian Region offers a wide range
of attractions and activities. We are proud
to welcome visitors from all over the world
and to offer them an unforgettable stay full
of experiences.
