thanks to the high success rate with frozen embryos,
we can transfer just one embryo. One of the most
significant innovations is the advancement in egg
cryopreservation, which now has a 90% survival rate.
Another innovation is the ability to detect genes in
embryos associated with cancer, cystic fibrosis, and
other genetic disorders passed from parents to child.
When a couple comes to your clinic, how long might
it take to achieve pregnancy?
It could be as soon as one month after the necessary
tests are completed. At the beginning of the menstrual
cycle, we initiate ovarian stimulation, retrieve eggs
around day 13, and perform the embryo transfer five
days later. However, certain tests, such as genetic
screening, can extend the timeframe by up to two
months, though they improve treatment success.
What advice would you give to women considering
a career in demanding fields like yours?
It’s essential to know that this path isn’t always easy.
Many gynaecologists see assisted reproduction
as routine, but each patient and case presents
a unique challenge. This field is also highly diverse,
involving collaboration with other medical specialties.
At Reprofit Brno, we have a significant science and
research department that brings innovation to our daily
practice, in collaboration with Masaryk University.
Does Reprofit Clinic have any long-term goals?
Our main goal is to increase treatment success rates
and provide individualised care. The greatest reward
is seeing happy families and a growing number
of children born thanks to our work—this confirms
the purpose of what we do.
