BUSINESS
Innovate, Move Forward and,
Most Importantly, Not Stagnate
JOB AIR Technic is one of the largest repair centers for commercial aircraft in Central Europe, with an ideal
location in the immediate vicinity of the Leoš Janáček International Airport in Ostrava in the industrial zone.
New employees are currently being recruited with the aim of hiring twenty-five new aircraft mechanics by the
end of this year. The company has long supported the field of aeronautical mechanics at secondary schools,
enabling students to gain practical experience, paying scholarships and participating in the curriculum.
The interview with POSITIV Business
& Style magazine was provided by Lenka
Vitásková, HR manager of JOB AIR
Technic, a.s.
Mrs Vitásková, how many employees
do you currently have?
At present, more than 350 employees of various
specializations--aircraft mechanics, plumbers,
painters, composers, storekeepers, upholsterers,
engineers, planners and THP workers.
How do you proceed when recruiting
employees?
We are a very specific field, so the
requirements for these positions are different.
We use all the modern methods that today‘s
human resources offers, such as social
networks, active addressing and we also used
agencies and foreign advertising last year. We
have also created our own pool of candidates
and former employees, which we address in
the case of recruitment.
What qualities and abilities should
a suitable candidate have and what
do you consider to be an obstacle?
The candidate should definitely be
technically and manually proficient.
For managerial positions, the candidate
must meet other skills and abilities such
as conflict resolution, staff coaching
and delegation and should also master
strategic planning processes. It is
necessary to pay attention to meeting the
deadlines which are required by both the
customer and the management of the
company.
The lack of knowledge of the English
language may be an obstacle; in this field
a foreign language is a necessity.
Do women also work for you?
Yes, it is common today that an aircraft
mechanic is also a woman. There aren‘t
many of them, but on the other hand,
men pamper them here.
Getting a capable employee is not
easy, but it is even harder to keep such
a person in one place for a long time.
How do you motivate people, or what
benefits do you offer your employees?
You‘re right, it‘s getting harder every year.
Employees can compare because job
offers are offered both in the media and
on the internet.
In addition to classic benefits such as
sick days, an extra week of vacation,
subsidized food, more advantageous
tariffs and support for education, these
are benefits that we draw from the CSG
group, to which our company belongs.
And because, as I mentioned, English
is indispensable in the field of aviation,
our employees are entitled to language
courses.
What first comes to your mind when
you say a quality employer?
Can I say it‘s JOB AIR Technic? (laughter).
No, really. This field provides a number
of interesting and lucrative opportunities.
We are a strong employer and we
emphasize open and direct negotiations.
But if I were to say in general what
I imagine under this term, it would
certainly be open to new possibilities and
challenges. I think it is crucial that the
company does not stagnate, has a clear
vision and moves on.
Mrs Vitásková, thank you for the interview.
