The MoravianSilesian Region
as an Attractive
Destination
for the Benelux
Countries
The Moravian-Silesian Region is very
attractive to investors thanks to its location,
skilful, qualified and creative people,
significant scale of brownfields and available
real estate. We respect and appreciate
everyone who comes to run their business
here, beginning entrepreneurs included.
We intend to develop this potential through
MSID and MSIC, regional agencies who
assist in making the local investment
environment even more attractive and the
innovation ecosystem stronger.
Belgian company, Vyncke, produces
technologies turning biomass into clean
energy in the largest foreign daughter of
the global enterprise. The Dutch company
Huisman produces hi-tech machinery with
a significant aged value.
Our ‘portfolio’ is attractive enough even
for businesses from Benelux. This region is
greatly represented in the Moravian-Silesian
Region by companies headquartered in
the Netherlands. Investors from Belgium
and Luxembourg operate in various
fields here too. Let me emphasize that
these are often leaders in their business.
For example, Bekaert, the number one
technological leader in the transformation
of steel wires and fibres in the world, has

the Moravian-Silesian Region, the City
of Ostrava, Správa železniční a dopravní

Port of Antwerp. The new Multimodal
Transport Terminal will, among other
things, connect the Moravian-Silesian
Region with Antwerp, one of the largest
ports in Europe. A significant deal of freight
is also expected to move from road to
railway. The development of trade with the
Port of Antwerp and finishing the logistics
cargo terminal in Mošnov will undoubtedly
ignite serious economic impulses and
new investments not only to the regional
capital but all the region. Reinforcement
and intensification of freight transport
in the industrial zone may considerably
contribute to the development of the Leoš
Janáček Airport, Ostrava. Local businesses
will benefit from it, and the region will
enjoy an improved environment and
reduced emissions resulting from road
freight traffic.
