The automove industry in the region is far from being
an "assembly plant", but an advanced centre of modern industry
that inuences crucial areas of our lives.
Europe-wide and even world-wide impact
(these include Vitesco Technologies,
Brose, Brano, Hella Forvia, Magna
Hanon, Plastic Omnium and many
others). OEM Porsche Engineering also
has their development center in Ostrava.
The VW Group seems to value the
abilities and agility of Czech designers,
technicians and software engineers
very highly. Furthermore, the region
also develops and produces products
for all vehicle propulsion systems,
from classical combustion engines, to
battery power, to hybrids, and even
hydrogen. The automotive industry is
a very structured and standardized field
that values the teamwork, agility and
creativity of all of the workers involved
in the process, from production line
operators, to service and administrative
operators, to designers, developers
and programmers. It is thanks to these
people that the automotive industry can
thrive within our region.
Regional state and representative
bodies have recognized the importance
of the automotive industry and are
supporting its long term development,
which is great news. The automotive
sector is one of 5 domains of the
regional innovation strategy. We highly
value the development of the innovation
ecosystem within the region along with
the highly developed cooperation with
highschools and universities and their
part in the training of the next generation
of technicians (I would like to mention
at least VŠB-TUO and MTA- Moravian-
-Silesian Technological Academy as
representative institutions). Many
companies are working closely with
VŠB-TUO on R&D in the development
of autonomous vehicles, application
of robotics, sensors and general
digital transformation of production
management.
None of what the region has achieved
would be possible without people,
without the educated and active
workers that develop relevant
competences. The Trautom regional
strategic project is centered around
expanding the knowledge and abilities
of employees. Under the leadership
of MSPakt, this project has developed
a series of training plans, tools and
methods for the “reskilling” and
“upskilling” of workers within 3 key
regional industries - energetics, the steel
industry and the automotive industry.
We can look forward to the future
not only with optimism, but also with
the knowledge that the new “age of
electromobility” has dealt everyone
a fresh hand, which means that hard
work, agility and solidarity can lead us to
success in the global market.
The Moravian-Silesian automotive cluster,
which is an association of 92 companies
and institutions that are either directly
involved in or support the automotive
industry, is actively involved in many
of the activities I have talked about
here. We operate as an integrator and
intermediary of knowledge especially
for small and medium sized companies.
We also actively cooperate with high
schools and universities, and focus
on supporting the competitiveness of
companies within the region. Finally,
we also play a partnership role in
many transformation projects within
the region, country and the EU.
