BUSINESS
Naturprodukt CZ has been operating in the Czech
market for 30 years. Could you look back and
reminisce about the motivation and vision with
which you founded the company?
My parents built the foundation of Naturprodukt together
with me. My dad worked in construction and managed
a large team of employees. My mum was an accountant
and I think both my parents had a natural ability to run
a company. It was only a matter of time before my
parents found a field they were passionate about and
would pursue.
And as it happens, when our grandmother mentioned
that she had read or heard (I can't remember exactly)
about some Swedish drops she would like to try, which
contain many beneficial and healing herbs, I was not
lazy and went to Germany to get them. I brought back
the first few pieces. The drops were a huge success and
we naturally started selling other products. Come to
think of it, my grandmother was actually our first sales
representative and today one could use the fancy term -
our first influencer. After that, everything that comes with
entrepreneurship and business followed.
What was the main inspiration that helped you
realize your plans?
We started our business as a close-knit family
business, and we still hold strong, tight family
ties. We have all gradually joined the business
that our parents started. At first, I helped with
distribution. The pharmacy market was brand new,
legislation was forming and a whole new business
environment was taking shape. We actually had to
learn everything related to business from the very
beginning. But we enjoyed it very much. We
inspired each other, we discussed with each other,
we learned something new every day, and we built
the company step by step.
Gradually my husband, my brother and my sister-in-law
started working for the company. Now my children
are also part of the company, and when my brother's
children graduate, if they want to, they will start
working for the company as well.
You have remained a family business to this day,
even though the number of employees has grown to
almost 100. In your opinion, what is the advantage
of a family business over a corporation?
It's true that family togetherness is always with us.
We discuss everything together and we argue about
everything together. We simply enjoy it. Over the
years we have received various acquisition offers, but
we decided that for the time being we would try to
manage everything on our own.
We still have people working in our company who
have been with us almost from the beginning or at least
for many years. They are involved with us in making

Romana Bartschová has been the head of Naturprodukt CZ since 1993. Under her leadership,
the company grew from a small family business and today is a respected player in the market of
pharmaceucals and dietary supplements. With her economic educaon, and also with a posive
atude towards agriculture and respect for nature, Mrs. Romana combines tradional values
with modern business strategies. In addion to managing Naturprodukt CZ, she is also involved in
gastronomy through her own restaurant, PASTA & CAFÉ ROMANA. This is where she capitalizes
on her many years of experience in the eld of natural gastronomy, which she also passes on to
her children. Her life moo "Whatever you do, always do it to the fullest" is her moo in both her
professional and personal journey.
